Taking place before The Rescue: The First Visitation of Thuria: Thurian Saga, Book 1, Mr. Lewis dives into how Vanassa and Sahnassa ended up at the mountain resort....and how they nearly didn't make it even that far several times. This book alone was probably the most emotional book for me to read, as I could really feel the pains that both Van and Sahni went through, having followed parts of both their lives in my own. Mr. Lewis' delivery of the content was emotional, heartfelt, and makes you smile, cry, and scream. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop until after I finished the book, then I went and re-read The Rescue: The First Visitation of Thuria: Thurian Saga, Book 1 just to get timelines right in my head.

I will say that Mr. Lewis managed to get me into introspection and thoughts, his books causing me to face my own history with a new and critical eye for who and what I am...and who all those who bumped in and out of my life along the way are. His books caused me to spend nights thinking and considering, and even remembering and forgiving. Though the whole series affected me, this book and The Fallen: Search for the Path (Thurian Saga Book 6) probably affected me the most, and went beyond just a really, really good read to books that touched my heart and soul.

I recommend reading the series in the following order for the chronological story:

1. Purebred: Soul of the Mixed Blood: The Thurian Saga, Book 5
2. The Rescue: The First Visitation of Thuria: Thurian Saga, Book 1
3. The Aftermath: Secrets of Thuria: Thurian Saga, Book 2
4. The Ascent: Conflict on Thuria: Thurian Saga, Book 3
5. The Summit: Rise of the Anati: Thurian Saga, Book 4
6. The Fallen: Search for the Path: Thurian Saga, Book 6

If you could sum up The Rescue: The First Visitation of Thuria in three words, what would they be?

Interesting multiple rescue

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Rescue: The First Visitation of Thuria?

I think the one of the most memorable parts of the book is when Sahnassa figured out where she was. I don't want to give much more away, you've got to read it for yourself.

Which scene was your favorite?

I think it was when Vanarra was held hostage.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were several parts that made me laugh, a few that made me cry, and one or two that made me mad.

Any additional comments?

Mr. Lewis really drew me into the story in a way that hasn't happened quite a while. THE RESCUE: THE FIRST VISITATION OF THURIA captivated me, drew me in so deep that I didn't want to stop listening, even during work or at home. The world he created was so vivid that I couldn't help but suspend my disbelief and fall into the story, falling into the characters to a point where I could see them, I could feel their pain, their joy, their fear. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series, and I think I'm going to pick up the paper copies to keep in my book shelf as well. If you want an excellent science fiction read with very strong feminine characters and a distinctive challenge to look at our own world the same again, take the time to listen to this book.

Not what I've come to expect from Ms. Grafton

What disappointed you about X?

It was anti-climactic. It was like Ms. Grafton was struggling for a story for "X" here. I figured out the water thing in the first mention of it, combined with the couples status. The issue with the list and people was painfully obvious as well. I'm more used to a stronger sense of mystery from Ms. Grafton, as her stories typically keep me on the edge of the seat. Highly disappointing.

What could Sue Grafton have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I think Ms. Grafton could have added a lot more intrigue regarding the list and the water rather than spelling out who, what, when, where, and why in the first two chapters. Unlike the rest of the Kinsey Millhone series, I had no problem leaving this book, as she failed to really capture me with this story. I only recommend it to others if you want continuity with things that may come up in Y or Z.

Which character – as performed by Judy Kaye – was your favorite?

Probably Kinsey

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Continuity and space filler in the alphabet for Ms. Grafton's series.

Any additional comments?

I certainly hope that this is just a fluke on Ms. Grafton's part. I rather enjoyed the rest of the series, but X was just....lacking.
