Disappointing

I felt the narrator/author was immature and selfish. She only thought about herself and never about her husband, and could not see out of her narrow little world. She married someone whom she knew would deploy, and put his life at risk. And yet, it was all about her being miserable away from her husband. Her pregnancy seem to further distort her view, and I worried about her even being a parent with such a childish perspective. As a wife of a first responder, and both of my sons growing up to be first responders, I realize that things can happen to them, but my life will go on because I am a separate person. As much as I love them, there is a bigger picture to it all and it is a picture that I cannot control.

Good story

Well written story about 2 lives at VMI. As a parent of a prospective cadet, it was interesting to learn some of the history and traditions intertwined with a well written story. Many parallels to Pat Conroy's writing.
