Historia
With the legends and lore of Ireland running through his blood, falconer Connor O’Dwyer is proud to call County Mayo home. It’s where his sister, Branna, lives and works, where his cousin, Iona, has found true love, and where his childhood friends form a circle that can’t be broken. A circle that is about to be stretched out of shape - by a long-awaited kiss. Meara Quinn is Branna’s best friend, a sister in all but blood. Her and Connor’s paths cross almost daily, as Connor takes tourists on hawk walks and Meara guides them on horseback across the lush countryside.

Loved the book/hated the 'reader'
Revisado: 01-09-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Shadow Spell to be better than the print version?
I apologize; I can ONLY read via Audio Books: Cannot make a comparison
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the story; can't wait til I hear Chapter 3 (final chapter) just downloaded it.
As a working Metaphysician, I listen for authenticity. I loved the book/story;hated the presentation by Alan Smyth;
What didn’t you like about Alan Smyth’s performance?
In the first book, the narrator engaged me, letting me feel as if I was IN the story; there was synchronicity, Mr Smyth's performance wasn't 'smooth' - It felt disjointed and I had to re-read/re-hear, to glean what I needed to know. He was at times ending a sentence by beginning another, both then, disjointed.
I DID like his authentic accent for the story with his lovely Irish brogue; conversely, being disjointed, it caused me to pause & figure it out where I was, rather than what the story line so, it did not flow well.
I would have preferred a more ... honest reader (found in his voice and yet, a non-succinct interpretation)
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was too busy to have a reaction - NOT the books fault at all... it was the poor interpretation of and by the narrator, 'Alan Smyth'
Any additional comments?
I am looking forward to chapter 3 - Blood Magick - the last in the series.
My only wish would have been been, narrated by 'other' and, not Alan Smyth - someone more 'smooth' - perhaps he was new...

Historia
With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends. Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations - and where her destiny awaits. Iona arrives in Ireland with nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses.

Loved the book/s...
Revisado: 01-09-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I certainly would recommend
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dark Witch?
The entire book, for me and my hubby, was the enchantment and the narrator who gave me a feeling I was there IN the story, looking on.
Have you listened to any of Katherine Kellgren’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I cannot say; I've just begun to read this type book, it was NOT in my typical selections however, I am NOW a 'FAN'... especially if SHE is the one reading!
She brings life to the story
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me want MORE... I live this life; I love this life - it's what I DO.
I was totally captivated. I want more with HER reading than any others as they would not do it justice.
Any additional comments?
I am a metaphysican- love the cadence and the realism and, Katherine's voice lent to the entire 'package'

went back into the 'territories' after so many years had passed... loved the entire book and Frank Muller was awesome... again!

Historia
Only a handful of fictional characters are recognized by first name alone. Dean Koontz’s Odd Thomas is one such literary hero, who has come alive in listeners’ imaginations as he explores the greatest mysteries of this world and the next with his inimitable wit, heart, and quiet gallantry. Now Koontz follows Odd as he is drawn onward, to a destiny he cannot imagine. Haunted by dreams of an all-encompassing red tide, Odd is pulled inexorably to the sea, to a small California coastal town where nothing is as it seems.

Another great for me
Revisado: 12-29-12
If you could sum up Odd Hours in three words, what would they be?
a loveable Character
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Not so much on the edge of my seat, more like I was comfortable with the time it was taking to get from there to here.
Which scene was your favorite?
I cannot tell you my favorite scene. It just all flowed together like a synchronistic and harmonious tale... hmmm, like it should be.
Plus, to be honest, I read it long ago and have been waiting for the next round of Odd Thomas... finally got my wish!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
AS I read whilst I drive, I might have lapses in time-flow. So, on a long drive, say, 10 hours or more, I'm reading except when I stop for a rest.
During my day-to-day driving in town, I listen till I stop, put book on hold, start again to the next stop etc until I reach home. The next day is the same.
I don't indulge in more than ONE book at a time and typically take them in the order they're on my Garmin UNLESS there's one that peaks my curiosity as a must/now.
Any additional comments?
Gotta Love the way to read!

Next up... Brother Odd
Revisado: 12-29-12
Where does Brother Odd rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Ranks high on my list. Loved it
What did you like best about this story?
Again, it's dealing with the spirits that have crossed over and may have an issue or three
What about David Aaron Baker’s performance did you like?
His whole presentation makes me feel as if HE truly IS "Odd Thomas" and he's just telling his story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I don't 'read' - I have an auditory disability; I don't recall what I visually read yet, I recall MOST everything I hear - so, I listen, and I listen in my car, beats muzak - boring!
In my car, I can listen and hear and remember every wonderful moment - I love that my Garmin is set up for audio books and no matter where I go, how far or how close, I'm listening to one of my books.
Any additional comments?
I think for the most part, I've been a member of Audible.com for probably 10 or close to it, years.
It's the only way for me to read & absorb & remember books and I have a voracious appetite.
I put on over 209K miles on my vehicle between 2003/4 to now the END week 2012. I did most of that driving throughout my state... and more.
I never leave home without Audible.com books loaded on some device or other. I can concentrate on the road whilst absorbing great books! a true win/win for me ;-)

The beginning of Odd Thomas
Revisado: 12-29-12
What made the experience of listening to Odd Thomas the most enjoyable?
It was up my alley; I love ghostly things, I'm amongst them and, work to send them home to the light. So, the Odd Thomas group caused me to feel comfortable and familiar
What did you like best about this story?
The way it eased through. Very synchronistic
Have you listened to any of David Aaron Baker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No; I've only heard HIM read the Odd Thomas books and he's perfect!
If you could take any character from Odd Thomas out to dinner, who would it be and why?
I don't know... I don't typically take men to dinner; they take ME to dinner ;-)
Any additional comments?
With each Odd Thomas, I was left wanting more... now these years later, there ARE two more - I have high hopes for the latest, I read the one prior but didn't care for it as much/see review. Odd Thomas Apocalypse (?)

Historia
Once presided over by a flamboyant Hollywood mogul during the Roaring ’20s, the magnificent West Coast property known as Roseland is now home to a reclusive billionaire financier and his faithful servants. And, for the moment, it’s also a port in the storm for Odd Thomas and his traveling companion, the inscrutably charming Annamaria. In the wake of Odd’s most recent clash with lethal adversaries, the opulent manor’s comforts should be welcome. But there’s far more to Roseland than meets even the extraordinary eye of Odd, who soon suspects it may be more hell than haven.

Didn't like as much as other Odd Thomas'
Revisado: 12-29-12
Would you listen to Odd Apocalypse again? Why?
No, yet then, I don't typically re-read ANY of the books I purchase. In this case, for me, it wasn't worthy of a 2nd read. I found it somewhat confusing ...
Would you be willing to try another book from Dean Koontz? Why or why not?
Absolutely... I have MOST of Dean Koontz collection of works. Yup, there were a few mutts in amongst the purebreeds but then, what IS life for, but to experience it all.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the book was done
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No emotion; a bit of annoyance
Any additional comments?
By far and large, Dean Koontz is my most favorite author for this genre' (aka weird)

I found it to be a bit boring, not as dramatic or exciting, a bit of a cliff hanger-awaiting MORE thrills. Like a kiddie-roller-coaster... bring you up but just a little and then send you down and left you there.
