Historia
A gospel, as ancient and authentic as any of the gospels that the Christian bible contains, was buried deep in the Egyptian desert after an edict was sent out in the 4th century to have all copies of it destroyed. Fortunately, some rebel monks were wise enough to refuse - and thanks to their disobedience and spiritual bravery, we have several manuscripts of the only gospel that was written in the name of a woman: The Gospel of Mary Magdalene.

Important, compelling, should be required reading!
Revisado: 10-21-19
Aware of a woman's negative place in the male oriented Christian church of today; afterall- everything is Eve's fault and women ARE seen as lesser- God is a He! Megan Watterson has always felt her womanhood had no place in Christianity. Deep thinking and spiritual as a child, she couldn't relate with the patriarchal church, but searched. Studied Buddhism, went to seminary school, then discovered the lost gospels, and now has written her beautiful journey towards finding the feminine half of Christ. Coming off a tad sophomoric at first, because well, she's young, still Megan's delight is contagious and her observations gorgeous as she finds Mary Magdelene wasn't a prostitute as 'they' would have us believe. Mary, rather, was the most beloved, female half of the Christ story. The half stuffed away in the 3rd century by the Council of Nicea when the final 'Bible as we know it" was put together from a larger group of gospels and Christian writings. She carefully takes us through the fascinating history, quoting from the Bible, the Books of Mary, Thomas, and Philip, the Buddha and more. She reveals her personal discovery that Mary's message is one of Adwaita, from the Sanskrit. Meaning, we are not separate, humans and God, we are one- true monotheism. Thinking we are separate is actually dualistic. Mary refers to God as "The Good". And we are already Good. We just need to realize our own capacity, to pick up our cross and follow Christ, not 'wait' for Him to 'save' us.
Important, uplifting, and highly recommended reading.

Historia
Blood carries life, yet the sight of it makes people faint. It is a waste product and a commodity pricier than oil. It can save lives and transmit deadly infections. Each one of us has roughly nine pints of it, yet many don’t even know their own blood type. And for all its ubiquitousness, the few tablespoons of blood discharged by 800 million women are still regarded as taboo: menstruation is perhaps the single most demonized biological event.

A compelling history of humans and blood
Revisado: 08-30-19
Well narrated, the speaker keeps you engaged at all times with a nice English accent, easy to understand and fun.
I loved the well detailed, animated, -never boring- history of our relationship with this lifegiving fluid . from vampires as well as many other fascinating myths still held today around the world, this well researched book also takes you to detailed info of scientists through the years who have increased our knowledge, from blood letting to blood typing, women's issues, societal fears and on, this has been lively, sometimes humorous, and always fascinating. the author follows a chronological order, inserting fascinating tidbits of trivia and information along the way. compelling! I highly recommend this for men and women, as well as curious older children, who will gain a unique insight about views around the world, myth and fact, regarding our amazing blood in an entertaining, humorous and quite refreshingly straightforward read.

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Historia
Hertell Daggett isn't what he used to be—he'd once been married, he'd once been a physicist, and he'd once been shot in the head. The doctors got the bullet out, but a few tiny specks of copper stayed behind, floating inside his brain, connecting parts that aren't connected in the rest of us, filaments of species memory going back to the beginning of time.

And allegations that Australia was cheated out of a Guinness World Record. In the process of charting the scandal-plagued race to breed the world’s hottest chilli, the audio documentary lifts the lid on the subculture of ‘Chilli-heads’, hardcore chilli fans spread across the globe who compete in chilli eating and breeding competitions.

Fun quick and quirky
Revisado: 08-15-19
enjoyed the exuberance of the narration enough to keep me going through the few Southern Baptist style religious stuff. that stuff was well balanced however, a trip to a dominatrix, and more. Looking into our senses of pleasure and pain was fascinating and this book remained informative, yet lighthearted all the way through. I recommend this, if you're on the fence -for the quirk, the brightness and the cheerful curiosity seeking narration

Grabs you at the first word, pulls you in all the way! Hold onto your hat, it's a fun, exciting ride. While I enjoyed Dick Hills narration in other Reacher books, this narrator was also good. The story had great twists, loads of action, and an honestly great surprise ending!
