Right Wing Politics
Revisado: 03-09-25
The book is full of right wing political humor. You know, mean stuff about Biden and Obama, making fun of liberals, etc. It's also written like the author was in junior high and he includes himself as a big part of the book. It's pretty terrible and has made me question if I ever want to get another book by this guy.

Ork parts good, human parts boring
Revisado: 01-18-25
Basically half of the book is good, which is the Ork parts. I ended up skipping a lot of the human chapters, because they were very boring and didn't add much.

Weak retelling, mostly boring
Revisado: 11-01-24
It was a three star story that barely kept my interest until the climax, which was silly, rushed, and some didn't make sense like the guy having a syringe and sharing the Amazons' pain.

Ryan "Quicksave" Romano is an eccentric adventurer with a strange power: he can create a save-point in time and redo his life whenever he dies. Arriving in New Rome, the glitzy capital of sin of a rebuilding Europe, he finds the city torn between mega-corporations, sponsored heroes, super-powered criminals, and true monsters. It's a time of chaos, where potions can grant the power to rule the world and dangers lurk everywhere.

Surprising Find
Revisado: 12-20-23
It's fun all the way through. The main character is an anti-hero that took a minute to grow on me, but he got more and more likeable as the story went on and his personality is explained well with his powers. The powers are interesting and their source is handled in a unique way. Even the bunny, which seemed silly at first, became very interesting as more information was told. This is now my favorite superhero book.

Historia
Out on his own as a surveyor, Major Corbin sleeps under the stars and calls his own shots. As a one-man operation without powers on a space colony with power-abusing supers, this is the life. Nothing lasts forever. The chance discovery of a mysterious substance changes everything when he gains superpowers and learns that it’s the key to saving the colony from an evil that nobody but he knows is coming. The kicker? Gaining powers means waking an ancient being that might be the difference between saving the universe or dying in the process.

Book 1 is good. Lots of cool action.
Book 2 sucks. Very boring relationship stuff and little action.
Book 3 is okay. A bit slow for the action genre, but not bad.

It's so boring
Revisado: 04-11-23
Not everything has to be explosions and combat all the time, but this book seems to be all slow exposition. I made it through 12 chapters before returning it. Those 12 chapters could've been a single chapter or maybe even just a page or two. It feels like the author had an idea for a short story and then added a ton of filler to the front end to make it a novel. The whole thing is about the guy leaving the military, but then getting pulled back in to take over a historical ship and then having to work through red tape to outfit it. So, a whole sci-fi book about what amounts to paperwork with the slightest bit of intrigue, none of which was compelling. I never found myself asking "What happens next?", only "Will this ever get interesting?".

I wish it was more about the vampires than the relationship drama. It started strong, but then changed about halfway through.
