Historia
Often called the greatest novel ever written, War and Peace is at once an epic of the Napoleonic wars, a philosophical study, and a celebration of the Russian spirit. Tolstoy's genius is clearly seen in the multitude of characters in this massive chronicle, all of them fully realized and equally memorable.

It is really just a soap opera and one man's opinion of history
Revisado: 02-02-17
I enjoyed the book. There are many real characters and the book really gives you an understanding of the time period of the Napoleonic wars.
The book also contains interesting studies in human nature, philosophy, religion, and history. It is worth reading as a learning experience.
I do not think it it one of the greatest literary works in history, or one of the best books that I have ever read. My best ever is "A razor's edge". This too is a historical novel that touches on many of the same subjects. I suppose that I just did not feel as close to Tolstoy's characters and that is the big difference.

Historia
He was just a freckle-faced, red-headed kid with green eyes and a strangely campelling stare when Mather Mastiff first saw him an the auctioneer's block. One hundred credits and he was hers. For years the old woman was his only family. She loved him, fed him, taught him everything she knew - even let him keep the deadly flying snake he called Pip.Then Mother Mastiff mysteriously disappeared and Flinx took Pip to tail her kidnappers.

Best of series
Revisado: 11-18-16
In my humble opinion this book is the best of the series. You are introduced to Flynx,Pip, and Mother Mastiff. Mother Mastiff is a great character, very human, flawed, loved by Flinx. The story is fun, full of action, and touching, a great beginning to the series.

Historia
Centuries ago the human race fought its first great war against an alien race - and lost. A tiny population of human beings fled to distant Safehold. Centuries later their descendants have forgotten their history; for them, life has been an eternal Middle Ages, ruled by the Church of God Awaiting, whose secret purpose is to prevent the reemergence of industrial civilization. But not all of Safehold's founders were onboard with this plan. Those dissidents left behind their own secret legacies.
