Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

A near perfect book
Revisado: 05-15-17
What is there to say about this book? It's beautiful, sad, hilarious, inspiring, uplifting, and heartbreaking. It is everything that is good about a story, everything that is life, rolled into one book.
The pacing is great, the prose is wonderful, and the characters are a delight. I had heard that it was really good, but I went in not expecting much. What I came out with was a satisfied, but heavy heart from a wonderful tale about a bitter old man, who, despite his frustration, always did right by people, even while struggling with overwhelming grief and depression.
I did not expect this book to climb so many ranks up to my #2 slot for favorite books, but it did, and I believe that it will stay there for a good, long while.

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

A really solid story
Revisado: 12-24-16
I really enjoyed the story and characters, as well as the relationships between them.
This is not an action packed novel, in fact, I felt that it was fairly slow. But once you get into it, and realize that it is more of a supernatural drama, it's a far better experience. This is one that I will recommend, specifically the audio version as it's voiced by Jim Dale.

Little Women is one of the best loved books of all time. Lovely Meg, talented Jo, frail Beth, spoiled Amy: these are hard lessons of poverty and of growing up in New England during the Civil War. Through their dreams, plays, pranks, letters, illnesses, and courtships, women of all ages have become a part of this remarkable family and have felt the deep sadness when Meg leaves the circle of sisters to be married at the end of Part I....

In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

Well, that was odd.
Revisado: 07-11-16
It was a decent story, and I enjoyed it, but it jumped around randomly, and had a very different writing style than King's other work. I have heard that this is the worst of the series, and that it only gets better from here, so I'm going to trust that and continue on.
I really did enjoy the characters, who were all well written, and felt that the setting was brilliant.

Corporate Lord of the Flies.
Revisado: 07-04-16
This was definitely an interesting one. It resembles Lord of the Flies in some ways, although it's a drama rather than a thriller, and it's adults on a corporate retreat rather than children on an island. It's oddly philosophical, and shows a great deal of depth. Unfortunately, that depth gets convoluted with the multiple pov switches, and backstory on too many characters.
The characters that it does focus on, I felt were solid. They had their motives, wildly different personalities, and varied backstories. Had it been focused on one or two characters, I think it would have been easier to follow and added a bit more mystery to it. Still solid characters and story. The only other complaint that I had about the characters were that the females felt like throwaway characters, instead of fleshed out, necessary ones. They felt more obligatory than anything.
There is a bit of mystery in this story, and it's a decent plot, I enjoyed it, but it really is more of a drama about manipulation and societal power. Fluid prose is backed up by easygoing dialog that feels natural if at times unnecessary. I enjoyed the narration and the plot pacing, and I truly believe that this author has a long career ahead of him. With the talent and potential shown in this book, I cannot wait to see what he can do now with a few more years of experience.

An interesting space thiller.
Revisado: 06-23-16
This goes from drama, to thriller, to horror story all with perfect transitions. It's slightly confusing at first, but once things get rolling, it keeps you hooked. The characters are unique and interesting, the plot branches out into a vast complexity, and there are only a few points where I was going, "Okay, get to the point." Overall, it was great, and I cannot wait to read the next one.

Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

A somewhat disappointing follow up.
Revisado: 06-10-16
Ready Player One is my favorite book, so when I saw that Cline had wrote another 80's reference riddled sci-fi novel, I was ecstatic. It's not a bad book by any means, in fact, it's pretty good. I suppose my biggest issue is going from the masterpiece of RPO to a more low-key and casual sci-fi story that focuses more on re-working old cliches into a fun and laid back experience. Still worth a read, still full of 80's humor and references, and still has a lot of brilliant scenes. I can't wait for his next novel.
As far as narration goes, Wil Wheaton is a master. The man could perform the phone book and I would happily listen. He ranks right up at the top with Jim Dale in my book.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan, but for Cath, being a fan is her life - and she's really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow Series when they were just kids; it's what got them through their mother leaving. Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere. Cath's sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can't let go.

A fantastic story of a girl who is trapped in her obsession with a fictional world and its characters. It's smart, it's funny, it's sad, and it's well written. I even learned a few lessons as a writer from it.

Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Revisado: 04-19-16
So far, I have yet to hear anyone narrate as well as Jim Dale. He has a wonderful voice and expertly performs this series in a way others cannot, especially with his ability to portray the voices of the characters so well that you know who is speaking before he announces it.
