Historia
The year is 1739. Eliza Lucas is sixteen years old when her father leaves her in charge of their family’s three plantations in rural South Carolina and then proceeds to bleed the estates dry in pursuit of his military ambitions. Tensions with the British, and with the Spanish in Florida, just a short way down the coast, are rising, and slaves are starting to become restless. Her mother wants nothing more than for their South Carolina endeavor to fail so they can go back to England. Soon her family is in danger of losing everything.

Liked that the author tried to write Eliza’s story based on her letters. It was an interesting story of the development of the colony of South Carolina. Also, that her two sons played such a significant role in American history.

The fairest flower in Mawbry is Erienne Fleming, the enchanting, raven-haired daughter of the village mayor. Charming, spirited, and exquisitely lovely, she is beset on all sides by suitors, any one of whom would pay a king's fortune for a place in her heart. But Erienne has eyes for only one: the dashing and witty young Yankee, Christopher Seton. But marriage for love is not to be, for her irresponsible and unscrupulous father, crippled by gambling debts, is intent on auctioning off his beautiful daughter to the highest bidder.

A Rose in Winter, very predictable. Some small twist didn’t make up for the storyline.

Listened to this on Audible and did not care for whenever there was a new gruff character character the volume would go up painfully high.

Oh, I did not care for this book. It was mediocre to start. A twist at the end of the book but they made the wife so dumb in her whole approach. Disappointed

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

The Silent Patient
Revisado: 03-31-19
The book was developed well with lots of unexpected twist and turns. It left you wondering who-done-it until the last chapter. I also appreciated having a female and male narrator for the audio version of the story, it made The Silent Patient a pleasant listen. With one narrator reading all characters of a book the voice tones go up in volume and pitch which can be difficult to listen to. I would highly recommend this book.

Historia
Two retired Texas Rangers, Captains Woodrow Call and Augustus "Gus" McCrae, lead a cattle drive from the small town of Lonesome Dove to the unsettled Montana territories. On their grueling journey, they are joined by Joshua Deets, a Black scout and former Ranger, Jake Spoon, a fugitive, and Newt Dobbs, a 17-year-old boy who may have family ties to Call. Richly authentic, beautifully written, always dramatic, Lonesome Dove will make listeners laugh and weep, dream and remember.

Lonesome Dove
Revisado: 06-21-18
Loved the story with all of its great characters. However, I would not recommend this audio version because the voice of Gus McCray was decimals higher than the other voices in the audible version and extremely irritating to listen to. I only made it through this book by keeping my finger on the control volume so I could turn it down when Gus spoke which was often. I would listen to a different version of this book if I were you. I understand that they were trying to create this character that did speak louder and was hard of hearing but when listening to an audible book they need to be more aware of there listening audience. I doubt that the people that created this set down and listened to all 33 hours. I rarely take the time to write a review but hope this would be helpful to someone else or to the creators of this audible version of lonesome dove. It could just be edited so the volume is not higher than the other characters of the book but keep the same gruffness and tone of Gus’s voice.

Difficult to listen to this book
Revisado: 05-28-18
The we a sweet simple love story and would have been more interesting had the performance been tolerable. The voice of Aunt Doudie—not sure how to spell it—was a high pitched shrill. Very difficult to listen to. Noticed that the audio sample for the book did not contain this voice. I would not have purchased this book had I heard this voice. I had to turn down the volume every time this Aunt D came on.

I enjoyed listening to the Misicians assistant but found that jazzy musical interlude very irritating. I would prefer reading this book instead of listening to this book solely because of the music that accompanied it
