This is a long drawn out account. The players are not that complicated as told. The narrator is very poor, one of the least appealing I’ve heard in a long time. Save your credit.

What a Huge Disappointment!

How could they take such a spectacular book by choosing such an awful narrator? Inexcusable in my book. Do yourself a a favor, get an actual book and get lost in one of the best books written. This version is intolerable.

Great New Series

It’s been a good while since I’ve found a series that drew me in like O’Mahoney’s Southern Joe Hennessy. And I write few reviews anymore. (So many of these are just so so and not worth the time.) From mention of the setting, Charleston SC, which O’Mahoney describes so vividly, the plot twists and turns, characters that are very believable, and the book’s pitch perfect narrations this series pulled me in as a permanent fan. This particular book which of course can be read on its own hits the mark on all counts. I’ll be recommending this author to my legal thriller friends.

84 Chapters of the Worst Abuse

Do yourself a big favor. Stay away from this one. Four children & multiple adults are abused in the most horrendous ways. A number of them are murdered. And then the police are unable to find sufficient evidence to lock these monsters away forever. It’s all sickening.

Olsen’s writing is superb. Pierce’s narration is pitch perfect. Be ready to listen carefully to catch all the names and details. This is what we wish every audiobook would achieve.

Stunning! Must Read

This book is unforgettable, powerful, and revealing. Superb - it’s like a stealth bomber coming in under the radar. As others have said I “couldn’t put it down,” in fact when I woke in the middle of the night to I searched back to find the last part I remembered hearing. It will be #1 on my recommendation list now. Probably equally crucial is the narration of this book. Vs.reading a book in my own head voice, hearing the story in an African American’s voice made it all the more impactful for me, an old white lady. I’d probably gift the audiobook for those in my circle to whom I’d recommend it, if they don’t have an audible account.

This author is a writer for tabloid quality websites & publications. If you’re looking for actual. Journalism, keep looking. Anyone who’s read a book on this topic, newspaper in the past 30 yrs or a high quality publication knows these stories. This author paints all it with pink rose petals, mystery, gore, and sickening relentless trash talking. But it’s not journalism or history. Buyers remorse for me.
