Historia
Jackson Lee is a well-known adventure vlog influencer. He and a small support crew have been cashing in on the video craze with phenomenal, hair-raising exploits for years. Their latest undertaking is way beyond anything they've ever done. It's extremely dangerous and, worse, highly illegal. Never would Jackson have imagined those risks to be the least of his worries.

Story gets dumber as it goes.
Revisado: 02-17-24
Seriously how does this book get 4+ raring? The stupidity of characters made me cringe.
Not much of a spoiler but 3-4 bad guys with baseball bats, drive into the neighborhood full of people with firearms and demand every one surrender their firearms. The fire armed sht their pants. WT*?!

Easy listen but dumb at times
Revisado: 02-16-24
So this book just like the previous one is an easy read. Unlike the first book this one is so dumb at times… It gave me a headache for making me roll my eyes so hard. I had to stop and write this review.

Sounds plausible and grim
Revisado: 01-29-24
This is not a feel good Hollywood book. It’s grim, gloomy, sounds realistic Post nuclear war story.
The vibe I get is almost like prequel to The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

Historia
Set against the backdrop of the isolated forests north of New Hampshire's White Mountains, while camping on family land, Tom and Lori Thornton (and their dog, Buck) find themselves in a sudden SHTF scenario. No cellular service. Dangerous roads. Limited supplies. And far more questions than answers. After the shocking murder of Tom's uncle by a band of looters, the couple's already faltering marriage reaches the breaking point amid the chaos. Trust and loyalties are challenged, old friendships are put to the test, and immediate answers and solutions elude them.

Reads like a book review by a teenager
Revisado: 12-01-23
I really don’t get the hype.
It’s flat, boring, sometimes stupid. No character development at all. No meaningful conflicts.
You’ve got black survivors in the group, which could have been a disastrous development but all you get is “well our clothes don’t match the period, so let’s trade them for linen blouses.”

Working at the local processing plant, Marcos is in the business of slaughtering humans - though no one calls them that anymore. His wife has left him, his father is sinking into dementia, and Marcos tries not to think too hard about how he makes a living. After all, it happened so quickly. First, it was reported that an infectious virus has made all animal meat poisonous to humans. Then governments initiated the "Transition". Now, eating human meat - "special meat" - is legal. Marcos tries to stick to numbers, consignments, processing.

Good story, awful narrator
Revisado: 12-27-22
This could have been a masterpiece reading if it wasn’t for the narrator’s monotone, and awfully torturous pauses between sentences. I almost quit the book because of the narrator.
Imagine this book read by someone like John Turturro (World War Z) or Luis Guzman.
