Excellent Sci-Fi adventure —-Sound level issues
Revisado: 03-09-25
Great little story and makes me want to listen to more. Reader did a great job but the recording quality was inconsistent. Particularly the sound levels were very soft and made it difficult to listen to without headphones.

Historia
Goodwin describes the broken friendship between Teddy Roosevelt and his chosen successor, William Howard Taft. With the help of the "muckraking" press, Roosevelt had wielded the Bully Pulpit to challenge and triumph over abusive monopolies, political bosses, and corrupting money brokers. Roosevelt led a revolution that he bequeathed to Taft only to see it compromised as Taft surrendered to money men and big business. The rupture led Roosevelt to run against Taft for president, an ultimately futile race that gave power away to the Democrats.

Tedious

Over attention to some details, completely ignoring others. Author had a specific thesis to put forward. Could have been accomplished in less than half the time

So what if it's true that Black women are mad as hell? They have the right to be. In the Black feminist tradition of Audre Lorde, Brittney Cooper reminds us that anger is a powerful source of energy that can give us the strength to keep on fighting. Far too often, Black women's anger has been caricatured into an ugly and destructive force that threatens the civility and social fabric of American democracy. But Cooper shows us that there is more to the story than that.

Waste of Time
Revisado: 03-03-22
One has to wonder if this book was written by someone that could read, much less write. The logic applied is nonsensical. I wondered if this was some sort of joke. Unfortunately, this is just a joke on the person who purchases and spends time listening to this 'book'. An angry 8 year old would write more coherently. There are plenty of other authors out there skillfully writing on this topic. I advise the careful shopper to check out alternatives.

Outstanding!
Revisado: 09-10-21
The rapid fire parody is beautifully delivered with tongue firmly in cheek. Perhaps the highest praise for the work is the number of people offended by the fun poked at certain politicians. Those humorless enough to be wounded by the comedic jibes seem to have missed when the author lambasted himself and his own fan base. This clever, campy romp delivers 2 hours of delight. Adam Baldwin's performance is not to be missed.

Historia
On the first Sunday in December 1941, an armada of Japanese warplanes appeared suddenly over Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and devastated the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Six months later, in a sea fight north of the tiny atoll of Midway, four Japanese aircraft carriers were sent into the abyss. Pacific Crucible tells the epic tale of these first searing months of the Pacific war, when the U.S. Navy shook off the worst defeat in American military history and seized the strategic initiative.

Narrow historical view
Revisado: 04-06-21
Good and engaging but from a limited viewpoint. This is not a general history of events but it does an excellent job with its focus on the US perspective. This focus was not made clear in the descriptions of the book.

Awful
Revisado: 08-26-14
Any additional comments?
Both the writing and the performance are lacking in this book. After three hours my kids didn't want to hear anymore. If there is a story in there, its well hidden. The performance sounds like a librivox recording, well meaning but uninteresting.

Warning for Parents: sexual situations depicted
Revisado: 09-26-13
Any additional comments?
Same high standard of writing as in the first book but the description of the Lancelot/Guenivere romance gets into sexual situations that parents may not wish younger children to be exposed to.
