Historia
I guess saving the world once wasn't enough… First it was the auroras, lighting up Europe every night. Then came the weird clouds over Africa. The tidal shifts... the failing crops... the crazy changes to animal migration... And I think all of this is just the start. I don't buy the official line that these are natural occurrences. Not anymore. Not since a whistleblower hid a coded message in my invitation for an upcoming commemoration ceremony on The Vita. Now I know the truth—that Earth is in serious danger from the side-effects of their reckless research.

would be better if it didn't constantly take 10 min to describe 5 seconds of action. and then just when you thought the story was gonna finally get somewhere, it's over..... I think I'm done with this series.

very cringy
Revisado: 11-18-23
story has very good potential but it's like it's written by a liberal millennial who went to great lengths to be supper politically correct and not offend anyone. dialog is super unrealistic and cringy at times. there's no curse words at all and its very impersonal. characters will make a joke, then explain the joke, and then apologize for making a joke that might have offended the other person. every gun that comes up is nauseatingly described as being checked, not chambered, and a whole back ground in the person saying how much safety training and experience they have with guns. the son apparently has had extensive training and experience with a shotgun but when given one to protect the home, the mother makes this huge speech about how she knows he's had training, experience, how to handle it, and when to use it, and making sure it's put up and unloaded and out of reach until he needs it, which totally negates its use.. I've paid for it so I'm just trudging my way through.

Historia
The human race has turned to dust. August Morrison faces it after rising from the depths of a dark matter research facility in Arizona. His co-workers. His daughter. All of them: dust. Friends and colleagues around the world don’t answer their phones. The city of Phoenix burns. He is alone. As a world without mankind starts to crumble, August fights not just for survival, but for his very sanity. On the other side of the country, Poe McDowell watches her parents crumble into dust just moments after being shoved inside a coffin-like device that spares her from the same fate.

apocalypse through the mind of a liberal
Revisado: 06-03-23
it was just mysterious enough to keep me listening but the complete level of naivety and ineptitude will make you wish they'd just die already. The amount of introspective monologing will make you wanna skip ahead just to get past the overly detailed whining. And the complete lack of common sense in self preservation is mind boggling. you're going on a several month walking journey, you have access to an endless supply of every variety of weapon imaginable and you grab the least practical firearm for self protection and hunting... a lever action 30.30... and THREE boxes of 20 rounds! not to mention the constant blunders and thoughtless mistakes make you feel like you're brain is constantly slogging through knee high muck. but I paid for the book so I'm finishing it.

Revisado: 01-26-23
Horrid narration made worse by crapy dialog. The story is an interesting concept but the characters are completely unprofessional, childish, inept, and lack any common sense.

face palm
Revisado: 12-07-22
2 minutes in and 2 seconds after two nuclear blasts go off, the main character already knows exactly what happened and the exact state of the military, if that doesn't tell you how the rest of the book goes. also completely unrealistic dialog.

Protests, looting, and bloodletting take the place of civility in a country which becomes thoroughly unhinged.

Revisado: 03-20-20
it's a good story but the religion kills it. Kevin peirce is an awesome narrator but it seems like everything he reads has too much religion. feels like I'm listening to a teenage sunday school story.
