Historia
I wasn’t supposed to be on that roof on Valentine’s Day. Neither was Kellan Marchetti, the school’s designated freak. We met on the verge of ending our lives. Somehow, the tattered strings of our tragedies tangled and tightened into an unlikely bond. We decided not to take the plunge and agreed to check on each other every Valentine’s Day until school ended. Same time. One roof. Two restless souls. We kept our promise for three years.

I am a little concerned...
Revisado: 05-18-19
I’m somewhat mystified that I am the only person (that I could see based on the reviews I read) that wasn’t instantly sleeved out by Luis... he’s a Pervy middle aged man, saying uncomfortable and very explicit things to a teenaged girl... how did he not feel stupid for begging her to stay when she had to “check in with her parents” or hit the brakes when he overheard her lying about where/who she was with?
I’m only on chapter 13 but I’m mortified.. I totally feel like I’m listening to pedo prey on their victim.. ughhh!
Narrators are brilliant though., so that’s something.

I shouldn't have remembered him. He was just a guy who walked through a restaurant. I didn't know his name. We never made eye contact. There was no connection between us at all. But I could feel him. The tingle down my spine. The command in his presence. The snap of tension in the air around him. That was the first time I saw him, and I was captivated.

Revisado: 02-28-17
I LOVE Tijan, I have devoured EVERY book she has written, and read or listened to most more than once.
This story is no different- however, I think it's best left in print.
This narrator is indeed talented, and I believe has the ability to make a story a great listen... just not this one.
It didn't work for me, it felt wrong and made it hard to listen to the story.. distracting and unsettling.

I love Charley, I love Jake. I love Claudia.... the characters were painted real enough to be your best, enough angst to keep turning pages and the highs and lows associated w/ first loves and what happens afterward... A refreshing change from the "Dublin Street" series.

Historia
How far would you go to get what you wanted? That's the question author Catherine McKenzie addresses in Spin - a delectable debut novel that takes listeners into the connected worlds of pop culture, tabloid journalism, and celebrity rehab. The story of a newbie undercover gossip reporter who follows a troubled starlet into a rehab clinic intending to dig up all the dirt she possibly can, Spin is smart, hip, utterly engaging contemporary fiction in the vein of Jennifer Weiner and Emily Giffin.

into the mind of a resistant 30 something female..
Revisado: 08-10-16
Would you try another book from Catherine McKenzie and/or Kristi Burns?
I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
YES! I am a new fan of Kristi Burns, she has a flair for her narrative, clearly understands her characters and the script - she is without flaw:)
Would you be willing to try another book from Catherine McKenzie? Why or why not?
Catherine McKenzie has a pretty distinct writing style, she softly touches on real life painful issues while keeping you inside the characters head at all times - the inner dialogue is great and often I find myself chuckling out loud - or grinning at the self ridicule.
What about Kristi Burns’s performance did you like?
YES! I am a new fan of Kristi Burns, she has a flair for her narrative, clearly understands her characters and the script - she is without flaw:)
Did Spin - A Novel inspire you to do anything?
Truthfully, the story wasn't my favorite...i had a terrible time identifying with this character and spent a good deal of time wondering where the story was going....
Any additional comments?
This doesn't mean its a bad book, it just means that I was fairly "meh" over the content, I don't understand drinking beyond one or two - thus the underlying for this character held no appeal - and I felt she was struggling to maintain a youth that she wasnt even sure actually existed...

Historia
One cool April day, Mike Pritcher visits the home of his estranged wife, Lael, and takes their son, Ace, for an overnight outing. "She pushed her son's black-rimmed glasses up the slope of his thin nose. He jerked away like a puppy slipping its leash. A giggle, a crunch of gravel, a single wave of a grimy hand, and her only child was gone."

Revisado: 08-09-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
It certainly provokes thoughts and emotion - as a parent it touched on my worst fear and nightmare
What did you like best about this story?
It was a fairly detailed account of the motheres struggle to find her child, a little one dimensional at times, but ran the gamut of all thoughts and feelings, appropriate or not.
What does Becket Royce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Definitely gives a voice to the main character, makes certain emotions more believable
Could you see Have You Seen My Son? being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I feel like this could be a lifetime movie.....tho am pretty sure they have alreay made a few like this, lol!
Any additional comments?
A worthy listen, not a breezy afternoon read, and certainly more damatic than angsty.

Serious talent, not a stand alone!!
Revisado: 08-09-16
Would you listen to When Evil Calls Your Name again? Why?
I was gifted this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
No. It is a long, involved narrative that I did not realize was the 2nd book in a series.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Its hard to have a favorite character when the book details the horrific acts of a monster and the fall of his wife....
Have you listened to any of Emily Wilden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book filled me with disgust and sympathy, it horrified me and I was angry at the situation, the perp, so I would say the author truly did his job with a true talent for writing.
Any additional comments?
As I said previously reading book 1 is ideal, this story is a very long and often wandering tale of the wife of a sadistic child molestor - and how she came to be locked up in the womans prison.
It has some very thought provoking parts, but moves along quite slowly and you really have to hang in thee to get hooked, had I read the first book - it likely would have hooked me from the beginning.

Personable, realistic, laugh out loud....
Revisado: 08-09-16
Would you listen to Forgotten again? Why?
I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I wouldn't turn it off if it happened to be playing, it was quirky, fun and had some parts worth listening to again.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Forgotten?
I really liked the characters internal dialogue - she brought humility and humor to the character.
What does Kristi Burns bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I think she did a bang up job as narrator... I could visualize what was going on, she fit the part very, very well.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
When the world moves on without you....
Any additional comments?
This book was a bit breezier than I had anticipated, it didn't have any deep, soul searching, growing pains type moments - and I was a little confused about the relationship between Emma and Dom...it seemed to have morphed into something without any real progression to get there - but I think that in the end it was part of the charm.....I would absolutely recommend this book, it isn't often I have laugh out loud moments while listening to an audio-book!

This is entirely unfinished from the storyline, dialogue, editing and narration that never should have happened.... It has a rough outline quality that is common in middle/high school writings.
