Such a sweet story!

Does it fall into some cliches? Of course! Does it make you want to yell at you phone because of a misunderstanding? Like a middle aged man watching football on TV. Did I immediately look to see what other books she had on audible? Yes, unfortunately as on Christmas 2021 the answer is none.

I truly enjoyed this novel and I look forward to reading more from Lily Chu.

As for the performance by Philipa Soo, I loved it.

Sweet, Silly, and Sassy

I loved it, start to finish. were there moments I wanted to throttle the main characters, of course, that just means I was invested in the outcome. It was a good balance of believable and ridiculous.

fun, but....

This was a fun listen, don't get me wrong, but there were some moments that I began to doubt if I even liked Ellie. I did consider never finishing this book twice, once about three quarters of the way through, and then sometime in the last two or three chapters.

Honestly, I had a bit of trouble getting behind the love interest as they aren't a good show of a healthy relationship, they have moments where I wanted to scream at them that these are relationship red flags and to get away from each other. They do a good job of really only letting you see thing from Ellie's point of view, so I feel like we missed out on some interesting story bits. Having said that though I don't think this story would have worked any other way while still telling the same story.

Worth it

Beautiful. I got this title once I read some of the reviews. normally a book about soccer players wouldn't be my first choice, but now, anything Mariana Zapata writes I will pick up. the characters are engaging and the story is about so much more than falling in love. The only wrong with it, is that it ended. Give this book a try, I doubt you'll regret it.

Had me hooked in moments

I don't normally go for stories like this, but maybe I should. the characters were well written, I felt like I could pick them out on the street. I just really enjoyed how different each character was and how the world created in the book was presented.

I would listen to a sequel, even though this book ended in a place where you could see a happy ending for everyone you would want to have one. I really enjoyed that they didn't wrap every single thing up in a tidy bow, so if you wanted you could continue to the sequels,, but the major personal story themes were given outcomes and possibilities that made me happy.

Predictable in a good way, the only odd thing was the way it was described when the main character spoke German. The narrator did it well (though I'm not a German speaker myself), it just seemed forced in places. Even with that, it was still a cute book.

I read the book years ago, I've now listened to it twice in the past year. I would recommend this book with high praise not only for the love story, but for the suspense.

It's Nora, what else can I say

Each time I listen I fall in love again. You know you adore a story when you find yourself invested in characters lives. You actually feel sorrow for Iona' s lack of loving parents or how you can understand Finn's aching heart or Boyle's need for control. This is yet another wonderful addition to Nora's bibliography. You might evem find yourself thinking with an Irish accent as the book progresses!

I've listened to this story twice and read the paperback years ago, and each time it's like rediscovering an old friend. The characters breathe, and have life. As with all books in this series you get to see old characters and see how their stories have progressed. A truly joyful read be it the first time or the tenth.
