My first encounter with Matt Higgins
Revisado: 02-26-23
Im giving this 5 stars, because it has been helpful in explaining many thing I know notion about. Its opened my eyes to the inner baseball of the big corporate world. The first time I ever heard of Matt was listening to a Gary Vaynerchuk interview for the release. Because of the fact that I listen attentively when Gary is speaking, I understood that I needed to get this book. All the while having no real reference point for Matt. I dont watch TV at all, dont watch Shark Tank but I do know what Milk Bar and Momo Fuku are. I do know some of the companies mentioned and do know about the NYC politicians especially during 9/11.
I will say that having not written a book before be having written many article and a skeleton of a book I want to see in the world, having watched my brother tirelessly write book after book and go through the process, its hard. So I applaud the full effort. I like that this book really tells me the stories of some entrepreneurs and business people and how they maneuvered the roadblocks found within themselves to overcome or circumvent failure. I applaud the coming from nothing and breaking all the conventions in order to make a path. The thread that winds through the pages reinforces the theme of letting go of conventional wisdom and following your gut. Making decisions for yourself while keeping your closest family at the heart of your drive.
Lastly the simple fact that Matt has been responsive to me online as I have been pulling quotes I found insightful. He really responded and that means a lot. The same way that he took the extra effort to actually read the audio version of the book. That in and of itself is a super human feat in my mind. Im trying to absorb as much as I can about breaking out and building my own business. This book has given me the reinforcement I am looking for to keep pushing for my goals no matter how hard they are, and when times start getting tough to abandon the easy exit strategies and safety nets (while still minimizing the downsides of course).
A great first publishing! A great story and a really genuine person as far as i can tell. You have my vote of approval. nice work. Tell Sarah thank you for being your support in making this book possible.

Things I already knew about but piecing it all together even more and solidifying and simplifying the concepts. The narrative case studies for each skill were highly detailed and inspiring. Thanks Josh!!

Historia
One hundred thousand years ago, at least six human species inhabited the Earth. Today there is just one. Us. Homo sapiens. How did our species succeed in the battle for dominance? Why did our foraging ancestors come together to create cities and kingdoms? How did we come to believe in gods, nations, and human rights; to trust money, books, and laws; and to be enslaved by bureaucracy, timetables, and consumerism?

History book for everyone
Revisado: 02-23-17
I think I have learned more about global history in this one book than I have learned my entire time reading and going to school. Great in depth look at history and it's inhabitants. Love how it is all tied together in the end. Mind. Blown.

Historia
I almost didn't publish Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on It. I was terrified. Here I was, a CEO who'd fallen apart after his company failed, writing a book about how loving himself saved him. I thought I'd be a laughing stock and my career would be finished. But I stepped through the fears and shared my truth with the world. What happened next changed my life. The book went viral. Amazing people all over shared it online and on social media. They bought copies for friends and family. They wrote heartfelt reviews. For some, this book literally saved their lives.

Kamal, thank you so much for taking the time to put these thoughts to paper. I teach resilience in the Army and I guess, through reading books and blogs, listening to podcasts, I am always searching for better ways to get the point across. Also searching for better was to get the message across to myself. I live for the aha moments when the dots start connecting. The same way I met you online today, the response this book relays is simple and elegant and yet pushes you back in your seat like the thrust from a rocket. I'm deeply moved by your thoughts and words and feel very lucky to have been blessed enough to have crossed paths with you however metaphysical. Honored to have you as a brother in arms. Thank you for your book and for your service. John

Historia
"While the history books are filled with tales of obsessive visionary geniuses who remade the world in their images with sheer, almost irrational force, I've found that history is also made by individuals who fought their egos at every turn, who eschewed the spotlight, and who put their higher goals above their desire for recognition." The obstacle is the way last week. Ego is the way this week. What else can I say but stunning. Timeless information that transcends all Walks of life. Ryan brings the art of storytelling with a very stoic and philosophical point of view.
