Historia
From the glamorous to the entitled, from royalty to the financially ruined, everyone who wanted to be seen—or just to gawk—at the hottest restaurants in New York City came to places Michael Cecchi-Azzolina helped run. His phone number was passed around among those who wanted to curry favor, during the decades when restaurants replaced clubs and theater as, well, theater in the most visible, vibrant city in the world. Besides dropping us back into a vanished time, Your Table Is Ready takes us places we’d never be able to get into on our own.

The story of the 1969 New York Mets’ season has long since entered sports lore as one of the most remarkable of all time. But beyond the “miracle” is a compelling narrative of an unlikely collection of players and the hallowed manager who inspired them to greatness.

A lot of play by play
Revisado: 05-11-21
It’s a very good book, but a big chunk of the story is taken up by play-by-play descriptions of games. I don’t mind play-by-play, but I generally prefer sports books to tell all of the stories that going on around the game.

Historia
By early 1977, New York City was in the grip of hysteria caused by a murderer dubbed "Son of Sam". And on a sweltering night in July, a citywide power outage touched off an orgy of looting and arson that led to the largest mass arrest in the city's history. As the turbulent year wore on, the city became absorbed in two epic battles: the fight between Yankee slugger Reggie Jackson and team manager Billy Martin, and the battle between Ed Koch and Mario Cuomo for the city's mayoralty.

Historia
The unlikeliest of champions, the 1949-50 City College Beavers were extraordinary by every measure. During that remarkable season, this unheralded group of city kids would stun the basketball world by becoming the only team in history to win the NIT and NCAA tournaments in the same year. This team, though, proved to be extraordinary in another way: During the following season, all of the team’s starting five were arrested by New York City detectives. The story centers on Eddie Roman and Floyd Layne, each caught up in the scandal, each searching for a path to personal redemption.

Ken Kocienda offers an inside look at Apple’s creative process. Interesting, but too much analysis
Revisado: 12-06-20
As some other reviewers have said, this book shines when the author is recounting how he developed Apple products. You get great insight into how software engineers at Apple work. The problem with this book is the author’s insistence on over-analyzing. He spends way too much time explaining the often self-explanatory lessons that he learned from his experiences. Overall, it’s an interesting book, but there are many skippable parts.
