I've been listening to this omnibus for about 3 hours and... my god someone please tell the male narrator to get off the toilet. His entire narration sounds like he's straining on the toilet. The lack of proper inflection and over dramatization at the wrong time ruins the flow and makes the story seem just....wrong. I know it can't be east to be a narrator but this just sounded awful. Not sure I'll be able to even finish the book.

good book but...
Revisado: 01-07-25
I'm a big fan of this series and enjoy these books greatly. However why does it seem like the MC is getting weaker. He was pretty over powered but it seems like he's having a harder and harder time unless he gets help. Also I'm sure the story said that strong magicians were rare but stronger and stronger enemies seem to be popping up everywhere. meh still a good series.

Do research
Revisado: 12-14-23
As others have stated the story is slow. There is no conflict or anything like that as of yet. But what I just can't stand is the author clearly doesn't know blacksmithing. FFS you do not cast swords. Not for battle use anyways. Don't write book about a subject you're not willing to learn about. Up until that moment I was enjoying the story but that just gah it ruins it.

not again
Revisado: 12-13-23
I'm on the fence about getting book 6 when it releases. I don't think I can handle Randidly going off world again. The story of him on Shawls world was so boring. However the way the story is being told on Earth is getting irksome. Like what the hell is Randidly doing? He spent half the book making metal ingots. Seriously? Also Randidly is supposed to be so much more powerful than everyone else already and now he can level. Yet this badassery is never really shown at all. So why even make him this powerful? I dunno....maybe I'll get book 6. Depends how long he'll be on Shawls world ....again.

Revisado: 06-08-21
First things first. This book is amazing. Everything I've wanted in a litrpg. The characters are fun and mostly realistic. The game world is probably the best I've read about. However the best part is that it seems like a game. Some spoilers ahead read with caution!!
The way this book moves is tremendously satisfying. The mechanics of the skills are not only believable but relatable to some real life video games. There were parts that reminded me of Skyrim, Fable, and World of Warcraft. The best part of this game though (at least for me) was the questing system. I've listened to so many litrpg books on Audible and one thing I've found.is that all of them almost completely ignore this aspect. Sure there are quests in the game...but they don't feel like a quest...more like a trope to justify being called a litrpg. They just kinda seem like an after thought and like they aren't actually a part of the game world. This book however gave them meaning. Questing took on a major role and it was absolutely fun to follow. The next best thing was the skill mechanics. They were relatable to current real life games. To many times I've listened to them talk about skills in games that are either rediculous for the MC's level or they kinda feel bland. My biggest pet peeve though is when a skill that is pretty basic has something like a ten minute cool down. This book followed a pretty simple rule. The skills seemed legit and class specific as well as having normal expected CDs.
My biggest issue with this book was the biggest trope these types of books seem to follow. In that the MC has to be on everyone's bad side. Right from the start the MC's interaction with other people in the real world just seemed.... fake. The way he gets on the CEO's bad side and the subsequent events were the only parts that took me out of the book and just annoyed me. The last interaction with a real person also just seems boring. It makes me worry about the next books story progress but either way I can't wait.
If you love litrpg books with city building, questing, and crafting then give this book a go. There are so many awesome mechanics in this book. I wish a game like this really existed so I could.live the story for real.

Nope
Revisado: 03-21-21
This book just took a nose dive. The first book was ok. There are oey features that any gamer is gonna question in these books but the first book was pretty easy to give a pass to. However this book...book 2 has the author never played any type of table top or rpg game ever? No one...and I mean no one would play a game like this. 24 hour respawn time? Nope. People breaking game mechanics to hold a grudge. Nope. The game company allowing all this to happen for the sake of streamer views? Possible depends on the money they are making compared to the problems allowing said things to happen happen. Then there are weird plot holes. Not a big deal but I had a hard time over looking them. The first book said that leveling wasminsanely difficult. It could take months just to reach lvl 28. However the main enemy athereus had been playing since the start with a full guild and team mates. Was lvl 40. The pinnacle of players. However in book 2.nonly a week later there's magnitude who is so powerful that no one can stand up to him. I mean really. Plus there are just tons of people all in the high 40s. Like how did that happen? Then there's Lillian who despite being a nurse and a caregiver who helped in the first book.nis angry and insulting and wants everyone to do as she says. And athereus who's done a complete 180 and is now the victim and actually really cares about people..... Wth he wasn't even like that at the start of this book. Author has no idea what he's writing about. Its pretty evident that this is a genre he should stay away from. Hopefully I can return this book and get my credit back. Utter garbage.
