Historia
Among the most celebrated and beloved novels of 2021, Anthony Doerr’s gorgeous third novel is a triumph of imagination and compassion, a soaring story about children on the cusp of adulthood in worlds in peril, who find resilience, hope—and a book. In Cloud Cuckoo Land, Doerr has created a magnificent tapestry of times and places that reflects our vast interconnectedness—with other species, with each other, with those who lived before us, and with those who will be here after we’re gone.

Annoying
Revisado: 07-31-24
I hate how modern writers are constantly appealing to sexuality to keep their books interesting🥱

Historia
First published in 1766 and a perennial favorite since then, The Vicar of Wakefield is built around the naïve but loveable figure of Dr Primrose. He and his family live in rural bliss until disaster threatens to destroy their happiness: abduction, impoverishment and betrayal combine to lay them low, but a surprising figure brings hope when all seems lost.

Historia
The unapologetic intensity with which Emily Brontë wrote this story ensures that it will forever be considered one of the greatest works of English literature. A passionate tale of a chaotic and often violent love, Wuthering Heights transcends your average romance and, with its Gothic undertones, takes the listener on a journey through one man's lustful hunt for revenge.

Don’t waste your time
Revisado: 06-28-19
I was going to say don’t waste your money but it’s actually the time lost on this garbage that I grieve.
I wish this book had never been inflicted on humanity much less lauded as a great work of art.
The characters are either stupid, selfish or diabolical. Totally waste of time.

Crudest book don’t believe the hype
Revisado: 08-15-18
This book is worthless smut! Not worth the time. I read it (fast forwarding through the rape scenes and disgusting bits) for the story of the monks, the cathedral building drama and the other narratives.
I think Ken Follett is clearly a pervert. I can’t soften that description because it is the best fit. If you don’t want to taint your soul, don’t buy this sorry excuse of a book.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Fun Read!
Revisado: 08-06-18
Fun read but if you like a continuous storyline, as I do, then the chopped stories may be frustrating. I found myself loving one thread only to have it yanked from me as the author moved on to the next!

Eleanor Oliphant is so much more than fine!
Revisado: 08-06-18
I loved this book! Not only was it a gripping read it also forced me to be reflective. It reminded me why we're prone to saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover". You don't know what someone's story could be-live graciously!
