Beginning with Jesus' birth, Ken Bailey leads you on a kaleidoscopic study of Jesus throughout the four Gospels. Bailey examines the life and ministry of Jesus with attention to the Lord's Prayer, the Beatitudes, Jesus' relationship to women, and especially Jesus' parables. Through it all, Bailey employs his trademark expertise as a master of Middle Eastern culture to lead you into a deeper understanding of the person and significance of Jesus within his own cultural context.

When a door opens for Gracie Camden to leave Cape Cod and move to Manhattan as a nanny for a Juilliard drama instructor, she fully expects God to use the acting talent he’s given her to launch her to stardom. It’s been six months. What’s taking him so long? Seymour Kaufman relocates from Postville, Iowa, to New York City due to a shortage of mohels (circumcisers) serving the tri-state Messianic congregations.

A story with a lot of heart
Revisado: 09-19-20
This is not only a tale of working hard to make it in a big city into career, but also a story with heart about caring about each other along the way. There are fun and funny moments, and a jewel heist subplot with plenty of surprises.
Grace is an endearing character and as a fan of Clarice James I enjoyed the prequel of Grace’s earlier years in Party of One on Kindle.

Historia
While there are many books about writing, none deal firsthand with the intersection of songwriting, storytelling, and vocation, along with nuts-and-bolts exploration of the great mystery of creativity. In Adorning the Dark, Andrew describes six principles for the writing life: serving the work, serving the audience, selectivity, discernment, discipline, and community. Through stories from his own journey, Andrew shows how these principles are not merely helpful for writers and artists but for anyone interested in imitating the way the Creator interacts with his creation.

Bacon. McDonalds. Cinnabon. Hot Pockets. Kale. Stand-up comedian and author Jim Gaffigan has made his career rhapsodizing over the most treasured dishes of the American diet (“choking on bacon is like getting murdered by your lover”) and decrying the worst offenders (“kale is the early morning of foods”).

Prepare for FOOD
Revisado: 04-09-20
Overall, the story is great for long car rides and is overall very entertaining. However, be prepared, it truly is ALL about food. Don’t expect many jokes or stories in between, it is all food recommendations and critiques. I definitely enjoyed listening to this, and it deserves a good review. Personally, I just would have enjoyed more in between conversations.

Historia
Ulysses is regarded by many as the single most important novel of the 20th century. It tells the story of one day in Dublin, June 16th 1904, largely through the eyes of Stephen Dedalus (Joyce's alter ego from Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man) and Leopold Bloom, an advertising salesman. Both begin a normal day, and both set off on a journey around the streets of Dublin, which eventually brings them into contact with one another.

Historia
Without John C. Houbolt, a mid-level engineer at NASA, Apollo 11 would never have made it to the moon. Top NASA engineers on the project, including Werner Von Braun, strongly advocated for a single, huge spacecraft to travel to the moon, land, and return to Earth. It's the scenario used in 1950s cartoons and horror movies about traveling to outer space. Houbolt had another idea: Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. LOR would link two spacecraft in orbit while the crafts were travelling at 3,600 miles an hour around the moon. His plan was ridiculed and considered unthinkable.

Historia
Shakespeare's works are among the greatest of humanity's cultural expressions and, as such, demand to be experienced and understood. But, simply put, Shakespeare is difficult. His language and culture - those of Elizabethan England - are greatly different from our own, and his poetry, thick with metaphorical imagery and double meanings, can be hard to penetrate.

Read alongside Arkangel Shakespeare Audiobook Dramatizations
Revisado: 12-29-18
Prof Connors tools and passion make this course interesting for anyone new or experienced with Shakespeare plays. I enjoyed listening to the Audiobook dramatized Arkangel Shakespeare of each play as he taught it. That added the fun of experiencing the play with the enjoyment of interpretation and analysis of the play. Such a great course I didn’t want it to end. He covers a dozen plays in depth and over 2/3 of all Shakespeare plays are described.

Empire of the Summer Moon spans two astonishing stories. The first traces the rise and fall of the Comanches, the most powerful Indian tribe in American history. The second entails one of the most remarkable narratives ever to come out of the Old West: the epic saga of the pioneer woman Cynthia Ann Parker and her mixed-blood son, Quanah, who became the last and greatest chief of the Comanches.

Adequate Reading of Fascinating History
Revisado: 01-04-18
The writing jumped around at times instead of providing a cohesive flow to follow. The performance was a straight reading and adequate to listen to, but plain. I was sometimes surprised how such dramatic and fascinating history could be read with so little enthusiasm. That said, I learned a tremendous amount about Comanche life and history that I never heard before, including description and explanations for the unsavory violence on all sides which others would gloss over. Plus the facts were well contrasted against the movie myths. The book title implies the full focus is on the last Comanche chief, but that comes at the end and it is actually a more full and rich history of the Comanche wars with Texas settlers.
