Historia
No one would ever accuse famous opera star Dame Serena Levante of lacking a flare for the dramatic. Unfortunately, it's curtains down on the dysfunctional diva when she's found dead at the bottom of a staircase in her elegant home. Solving an opera singer's murder may not be the typical hairdresser's aria of expertise. But Dame Serena was the mother of Daisy's best friend Floria, so Daisy must do-or-dye her best to get to the roots of the case.

New narrator but still a fun read
Revisado: 10-28-23
The new/different narrator has a much breathier style than the previous one but after a few chapters, I mostly got used to it. The story drug on a little but it was otherwise a fun listen.

Not the best in the series
Revisado: 08-17-23
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, including the narration, but the American accents in this story were so grating. This narrator is obviously very talented. I have been amazed at her range in previous entries in the series but just about couldn’t listen to this one. Hopefully the next entry in the series will return Eleanor and crew to England.

Historia
Rare-book dealer Ashlyn Greer’s affinity for books extends beyond the intoxicating scent of old paper, ink, and leather. She can feel the echoes of the books’ previous owners—an emotional fingerprint only she can read. When Ashlyn discovers a pair of beautifully bound volumes that appear to have never been published, her gift quickly becomes an obsession. Not only is each inscribed with a startling incrimination, but the authors, Hemi and Belle, tell conflicting sides of a tragic romance.

Such a Wonderful Book

While I don’t usually gravitate towards this type of story, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I often think that there are no new stories but this book is unique. It is also well written and narrated. Highly recommend.

Terrible Narration
Revisado: 06-23-23
I tried listening to this installment in the series because I enjoyed the previous two however, the new narration is so flat. It was hard to determine who was speaking because so many characters sounded the same. I had to return it and will be reading it instead.

Historia
The sisters of Gwenafwy Abbey have cherished their contemplative life - days spent in prayer, reflection, tending the convent's vegetable gardens and making their award-winning organic cheese, Heavenly Gouda. Life seems perfect, except for Sister Agatha, a die-hard mystery fan who despairs of ever finding any real life inspiration for her own novel. That is, until the abbey's sexton is found dead under an avalanche of gouda. Despite the reservations of the local constable, Sister Agatha is convinced it's murder and the game is afoot.

Enjoyed in spite of a few lulls in pace and setting errors
Revisado: 06-19-23
I loved the narrator and characters, also the references to other mystery writers, like Louise Penny, who is one of my favorites. There were a few parts that were a bit of a slog to get through and even as an American, I recognized some cultural errors in vernacular and behavior. Overall, though, I enjoyed the listen and will check out the next book on the series.

A fun listen
Revisado: 05-04-23
I enjoyed the story and characters, though sometimes the narration made it difficult to discern which character was speaking. I also could have used fewer “what’s that?” and “I’m sorry?” If I were reading instead of listening they may not have grated so much. I look forward to listening to the next installment.
