Well written
Revisado: 03-18-24
Crystal is a very good writer, and as it turns out a good reader as well. Her story is interesting. I think she did a fine job at sharing her story without dragging anyone along the way. This must have been a hard line to balance but she does it well.

Revisado: 05-18-22
I haven’t read or listened to a fiction book for some time(nonfiction kind of a gal), but what a great book to have landed on. Great characters and a wonderful story.
I enjoy the formula of chapters of one story from different female perspectives. The Poison Wood Bible is a memorable book using that formula of which I love and have reread. The Girls with No Names is that kind of good.
The readers did a great job. It was paced nicely, read clearly, and easy to follow.
I’m happy About this listen. Not only did it satisfy me, but it rekindled my interest in fiction.

Historia
This book is for listeners of true crime podcasts and audiences of both fiction and true-crime nonfiction. It's the true story of first-generation Irish-American nurse Jane Toppan, born as Honora Kelley. Jane Toppan was absolutely a monster, but she did not start out that way. When Jane was a young child, her father abandoned her and her sister to the Boston Female Asylum. From there, Jane was indentured to a wealthy family who changed her name, never adopted her, and wrote her out of the will.

Wow!
Revisado: 09-23-21
I’m just starting chapter 7 and couldn’t help but review. I knew the book would be wonderful after the introduction, but held off reviewing. McBrayer is a stunning beautiful writer… especially for the subject. She is an equally talented reader. Often, the author should avoid reading their own book, but this is just not the case with McBrayer. Her voice is wonderful and the reading of her work is flawless.

Im reading and she says stuff about what she’s going to say and it appears that it might be interesting because it happened and her grandmas said because her grandma is a great story teller.... there’s a story here if she could get to the point. Edit.

Each time I read, reread, or listen to a Deepak Chopra book I get something new. This book is no exception. I first read it years ago and have gained more insight in the re-listening of it once more.

Historia
We call it domestic violence. We call it private violence. Sometimes we call it intimate terrorism. But whatever we call it, we generally do not believe it has anything at all to do with us, despite the World Health Organization deeming it a 'global epidemic'. In No Visible Bruises, journalist Rachel Louise Snyder gives context for what we don't know we're seeing. She frames this urgent and immersive account of the scale of domestic violence in our country around key stories that explode the common myths....

Very interesting book
Revisado: 06-03-19
Very interesting and valuable topic. It’s not alway a good idea for the author to narrate their book but Snyder has great voice and cadence, with just enough emotion coming through that keeps the information from coming off clinical. It’s obvious Snyder has really put her heart and research into this topic keeping it both informative and relatable.

What a fantastic story
Revisado: 05-04-19
This is a fantastic story I got wind of it on a podcast and just had to hear more. I found the book a bit scattered and lacking of details, but the basic story of Couney and the incubators really carry what the author lacks. The challenge for the author would be the total lack information about the mysterious Couney. Overall it’s an interesting slice of Americana and An enjoyable book.
