Historia
Disillusioned with corporate London life and with no previous experience as a long-distance cyclist, Anna decides to clamber atop a beautiful pink bicycle (named Boudica) and set out on an 11,000-mile journey on her own, through each and every state of the USA. Dodging floods, blizzards and electrical storms, she pedals side by side with mustangs of the Wild West, through towering redwood forests, past the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains and on to the volcanos of Hawaii.

So many feels!
Revisado: 10-09-24
What I disliked about this book - it ended! I enjoyed every minute of this book as I have with Anna’s other adventures. In the last few minutes I felt so many emotions, up, down & goosebumps. I finished the book on my way home from work, I wanted to give it my full attention so I pulled over in a park. With 2 minutes left I look out my car window as a cyclist passed my car wearing a British flag cycling shirt! If it someone told me that happened to them I wouldn’t believe them. I look forward to my next adventure with Anna. 🇺🇸🇬🇧

Incredible performance for a beautifully written story!
Revisado: 04-21-24
For several years Pat Conroy has been my favorite author. When I met him I told him I finally understood the female teens of the ‘50s screaming & passing out when they saw their teen idols. I was truly star struck. I was sad when Mr. Conroy died, I thought I would never find another writer as good as him. I have found my new Pat Conroy! Abraham Verghese is absolutely fantastic! I have enjoyed every book. I’ve been a nurse for 40 years so I enjoy the medical aspect. The narrator did an amazing job with the voices from different parts of the world, both male and female. The bad part of the book - it ended.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

Historia
David Sheff's story is a first: a teenager's addiction from the parent's point of view, a real-time chronicle of the shocking descent into substance abuse and the gradual emergence into hope.
Before meth, Sheff's son, Nic, was a varsity athlete, honor student, and award-winning journalist. After meth, he was a trembling wraith who stole money from his eight-year-old brother and lived on the streets. With haunting candor, Sheff traces the first warning signs, the attempts at rehabilitation, and, at last, the way past addiction. He shows us that, whatever an addict's fate, the rest of the family must care for one another, too, lest they become addicted to addiction.

Historia
In June 1953, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, a couple with two young sons, were led separately from their prison cells on Death Row and electrocuted moments apart. Both had been convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage for the Soviet Union, despite the fact that the US government was aware that the evidence against Ethel was shaky at best and based on the perjury of her own brother. This book is the first to focus on one half of that couple for more than 30 years, and much new evidence has surfaced since then.

Historia
Why take the shortest, most direct route through life, when you could choose the wiggliest, most mountainous one possible? Armed with a limited grasp of Spanish and determined to meet as many Lamas as possible, Anna and her friend Faye set off on a six-month journey along the spine of the largest mountain range in the world - the Andes. Beginning in the bustling city of La Paz, the duo pedal south - through dense jungle, across pristine white salt flats and past towering volcanoes, following the path of thundering glacial rivers to the snow-tipped peaks of Patagonia.

I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure! I felt as if I were along for the ride. I did not want it to end - I just sat on the parking lot of the gym listening for the last 30 minutes, I did not want to finish it during a workout, I stayed in the car so I could savor every last minute.
I look forward to listening to more of Anna’s works & checking her out on social media.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Historia
Duchess Day Radley is a 13-year-old self-proclaimed outlaw. Rules are for other people. She is the fierce protector of her five-year-old brother, Robin, and the parent to her mother, Star, a single mom incapable of taking care of herself, let alone her two kids. Walk has never left the coastal California town where he and Star grew up. He may have become the chief of police, but he’s still trying to heal the old wound of having given the testimony that sent his best friend, Vincent King, to prison decades before. And he's in overdrive protecting Duchess and her brother.

Laugh, cry, gasp
Revisado: 06-16-21
The book is fantastic, beautifully written. I struggled with the narrator & the quality of production. Story would move from one state to another & narrator wouldn’t so much as pause - start hearing different character names & realize the story had moved. For 20+ chapters narrator would by saying “chapter XX” & it was off by 2 chapters, made me wonder if I was missing something. I had 2 hours left of the book & it just quit playing then just let out a loud, long squeal. Loved the book!
