Great book and an excellent introduction to the bizarre topic of medical child abuse. I hope this book spurs a national (maybe even international?) paradigm shift. The comparison of MCA to CSA is apt, and I hope the societal changes we’ve seen regarding CSA spread to MCA soon.

This was an efficient, compassionate, eye-opening and information-packed book. Author offered plenty of examples (which I love), actionable suggestions, and lots of clarity without oversimplification. For instance, she writes at length about healing while staying, which is a much more common sense / realistic approach than authors typically give. I was mystified to learn that there are not more books like this one. Most books focus on the narcissists themselves, rather than their survivors and the survivors’ healing. Author points out that in 10 years of training, she never once heard the term narcissist and even now is a heretic for writing about its survivors. Very glad this paradigm may be shifting.

I’m in a healthy relationship and only listened to this cuz author gave a good interview on “A Little Bit Culty” podcast. I loved this book and will be recommending it to several friends. Author gives a lot of examples - always helpful - and avoids a simplistic victims-and-abusers narrative. I found this book extremely actionable and grounded in reality, setting it apart from more airy fairy “what am I supposed to do with that?” paradigms like attachment style (which frankly seem to categorize people into jerks vs not jerks categories).

Amazing acting by the narrator. Incredible book. But I had to stop listening to it for chunks at a time (when I’d go listen to other books lol) because I couldn’t bear the emotional ups and downs and the dire straits Demon went through. But in the end there was always enough hope to hang on to. A great read.

Each chapter played like a scene - very cinematic, with specificity that helped me understand the two bizarre worlds she grew up in. I very much appreciated the feminist themes.

Some of the best descriptions I have ever read and one of the best narrators I have ever heard. Incredible talent.
