From the first page to the last, the author does a wonderful job of weaving back and forth between the highs and lows that come along with traveling, mental illness and life in general. He seems adept at using “the molecule” as a tool and a medicine to dig deeper than one might otherwise. There’s an extra fine line one must walk with great care when dealing with mental illness and dabbling in psychedelics and he walks it well. The whole book was quite inspirational and I often thought of how fun it would be to travel with a guy like Douggie. Reading this a year into the pandemic, I especially appreciated the epilogue. We’ve got a long way to go and this book left me with some optimism.
