Historia
For decades, the specter of homosexuality haunted Washington. The mere suggestion that a person might be gay destroyed reputations, ended careers, and ruined lives. At the height of the Cold War, fear of homosexuality became intertwined with the growing threat of international communism, leading to a purge of gay men and lesbians from the federal government. In the fevered atmosphere of political Washington, the secret “too loathsome to mention” held enormous, terrifying power.

Chasten takes us along on a ride I'll never forget
Revisado: 10-14-20
He is so good at describing complex emotions that many of us go through: what do I wanna do with my life? how do I pay the rent this month? why is it so hard to find the right partner? is it time to take a big risk or play it safe? how do I support someone I love through loss? is my coming out story valuable to others?
I so much would enjoy to just sit and talk with him, and he isnt the one with the political career. just delightful.

Historia
On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

just what I thought
Revisado: 06-23-20
it was organized into digestible sections and listening to Brown's voice and her self deprecation is very soothing when talking about fear and shame. This is not so much of a self help book but a book to help delve into what holds YOU back from being vulnerable and whether it's worth it to make a change.

remedial but still useful
Revisado: 06-09-17
I liked this book but it was still a little dated I expected it to be a bit more classic end at times it was a bit too sassy and condescending. Carson Kressley is really talented but as a teacher leaves something to be desired.
