Ellie Wiesel writes Dawn as he wrestles with “love your enemy” vs the 11th commandment he says is “hate your enemy “. Through some of his experiences he asks , “Does God have eyes?”

Historia
Tess Strebel can’t recognize her own face. She can’t recognize her home. Her bedroom is unfamiliar. And she can’t remember the handsome stranger lying next to her in bed. A stranger who claims he’s her husband. Tess reads a letter in her own handwriting, composed during a rare lucid day, explaining her life as it now exists: she was in a terrible car accident one year ago. Every morning, she wakes up unable to remember most of the last decade. Including her own wedding.

Historia
Beginning with a sweetly funny, moving account of her arranged marriage, the author undercuts stereotypes and offers the refreshing view of an American life through Muslim eyes. In chapters leavened with humor, hope, and insight, she recounts an immigrant's daily struggles balancing assimilation with preserving heritage, overcoming religious barriers from within and distortions of Islam from without, and confronting issues of raising her children as Muslims - while they lobby for a Christmas tree!

I found the beginning of this book’s first monologue of a woman’s whole life in France, but then listened to others in the knitting club’s joys and sadness of their lives. Excellent first all of us need to knit and pearl.

Historia
Danish countess Karen Blixon, known as Isak Dineson, ran a coffee plantation in Kenya in the years when Africa remained a romantic and formidable continent to most Europeans. Out of Africa is her account of her life there, with stories of her respectful relationships with the Masai, Kikuyu, and Somali natives who work on her land; the European friends who visit her; and the imposing permanence of the wild, high land itself.

Excellent story and history of tea
Revisado: 02-08-24
Lisa See is my very favorite author who writes novels. I mostly read non-fiction but Lisa See has done her research but delves into women's relationships and wonderful history of tea. I now drink white tea and my dear friend introduced me to this wonderful novel! A great novel and you will not be disapointed.

Historia
Life is hard enough for a teenage girl in 1950s suburbia without having a mother who may—or may not—be a witch. A single mother at that. Sure, she fits in with her starched dresses, string of pearls, and floral aprons. Then there are the hushed and mystical consultations with neighborhood women in distress. The unsavory, mysterious plants in the flower beds. The divined warning to steer clear of a boyfriend whose fate is certainly doomed.

A Story With No Sense
Revisado: 01-02-24
MY EVIL MOTHER was an hour long waste of my time. This story was more of a daughter rambling about her mother she did not understand. Total lack of communication and understanding of daughter and mother and father.

Historia
The Poisonwood Bible is a story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price, a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry with them everything they believe they will need from home, but soon find that all of it - from garden seeds to Scripture - is calamitously transformed on African soil. What follows is a suspenseful epic of one family’s tragic undoing and remarkable reconstruction over the course of three decades in postcolonial Africa.
