Historia
Taking place during the most critical period of our nation’s birth, The First Conspiracy tells a remarkable and previously untold piece of American history that not only reveals George Washington’s character, but also illuminates the origins of America’s counterintelligence movement that led to the modern day CIA. In 1776, an elite group of soldiers were handpicked to serve as George Washington’s bodyguards. Washington trusted them; relied on them. But unbeknownst to Washington, some of them were part of a treasonous plan.

Amazing unknown facts presented
Revisado: 01-28-23
So many books about the Revolutionary War concentrate on the battles. This book is a behind the screen look at the elements that may lose or not lose a battle. The espionage and counterespionage that went on was amazing. A look inside the conspiracy and the efforts to combat it was amazing. One never thinks of the behind the scenes elements of the war. Well written and well read.

Historia
In 1935, nine-year-old George Weyerhaeuser, heir to one of the wealthiest families in America, is snatched off the streets two blocks from his home. The boy is kept manacled in a pit, chained to a tree, and locked in a closet. The perps - a career bank robber, a petty thief, and his 19-year-old never-been-in-trouble Mormon wife - quickly become the targets of the biggest manhunt in Northwest history. The caper plays out like a Hollywood thriller with countless twists and improbable developments. Perhaps the most astonishing thing of all, though, is how it all ends.

A riveting kidnap story
Revisado: 01-04-22
The kidnapping of George Weyerhaeuser was the talk of the Pacific Northwest in the late 1930’s. The attention to detail by the author is admirable. Juxtaposition of current times to those times was highly achievable by the author. An excellent listen all around

Historia
Damon Runyon's classic stories of New York City gangsters come to life in this radio series. Broadway, our guide through Runyon's world, introduces us to characters who are often as soft-hearted as they are shady. For gamblers, burlesque queens, murderers, and innocents, comedy and tragedy were found in equal measure on the streets of Damon Runyon's Manhattan.

Historia
As 1862 dawned, the American republic was at death’s door. The federal government appeared overwhelmed, the U.S. Treasury was broke, and the Union’s top general was gravely ill. The Confederacy - with its booming economy, expert military leadership, and commanding position on the battlefield - had a clear view to victory. To a remarkable extent, the survival of the country depended on the judgment, cunning, and resilience of the unschooled frontier lawyer who had recently been elected president. Twelve months later, the Civil War had become a cataclysm but the tide had turned.

Jerome Corsi's newest opus, No Greater Valor, examines the Siege of Bastogne - one of the most heroic victories of WWII - with a focus on the surprising faith of the Americans who fought there. In December of 1944, an outmanned, outgunned, and surrounded US force fought Hitler's overwhelming Panzer divisions to a miraculous standstill at Bastogne. The underdogs had saved the war for the Allies. It was nothing short of miraculous.

An interesting perspective of a significant battle
Revisado: 07-19-20
Inspirational recount of the battle of Bastogne during WW 2. Redundant at times, excellent research with heavy reliance on SLA Marshall’s historical accounts. In some quarters Marshall was discounted due to numerous embellishments and several inaccuracies of his work as the US Army historian.

Historia
It would be hard to overstate the influence that St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) has had on both the Catholic world and the West as a whole over the last 750 years. Even in secular circles, Aquinas is known as one of the most important medieval philosophers, and in many respects a harbinger of the Renaissance that began to flourish across Europe in the centuries that followed his life. His groundbreaking work, Summa Theologica, remains one of the most influential philosophical texts in history.
