Excellent Story and Narrator
Revisado: 07-23-24
The story was easy to follow and a page turner. I liked how it was split into 3 parts. The narrator was exceptional and it seemed like she was really into the story!

Historia
Nowhere on our planet is devoid of life. Plants and animals thrive or survive within every extreme of climate and habitat that it offers. Single species, and often whole communities, adapt to make the most of ice cap and tundra, forest and plain, desert, ocean and volcano. These adaptations can be truly extraordinary. In Living Planet, David Attenborough’s searching eye, unfailing curiosity and infectious enthusiasm explain and illuminate the intricate lives of the these colonies.

The story is classic Attenborough
Revisado: 12-10-23
It sounded like he was on a speakerphone in a large room. It was hard to understand. He is elderly and I think it would have been better if he was on a mic close to his mouth. However, the story is classic David Attenborough So, I gave him all stars.

Historia
At first, only a few things are known about the celestial object that astronomers dub Rama. It is huge, weighing more than ten trillion tons. And it is hurtling through the solar system at inconceivable speed. Then a space probe confirms the unthinkable: Rama is no natural object. It is, incredibly, an interstellar spacecraft. Space explorers and planet-bound scientists alike prepare for mankind's first encounter with alien intelligence.

Historia
The past fifteen thousand years--the entire span of human civilization--have witnessed dramatic sea level changes, which began with rapid global warming at the end of the Ice Age, when sea levels were more than 700 feet below modern levels. Over the next eleven millennia, the oceans climbed in fits and starts. These rapid changes had little effect on those humans who experienced them, partly because there were so few people on earth, and also because they were able to adjust readily to new coastlines.

Hard to judge overall because of poor narration
Revisado: 07-23-18
It's an intriguing story, and so far not full of politics.
The narration is just too unbearable.
Up and down, up and down like a programmed cadence.
It actually helped a bit to reduce the speed of the book - to help spread out the cadence.
A screen reader program could have done better.
In fact, that is what I might do - Get the Kindle version and try a screen reader.
I didn't complete this yet.
Returning it immediately.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Historia
For dinosaurs, it was a big rock. For humans: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). When the Earth is hit by the greatest CME in recorded history (several times larger than the Carrington Event of 1859), the combined societies of the planet's most developed nations struggle to adapt to a life thrust back into the Dark Ages. In the United States, the military scrambles to speed the nation's recovery on multiple fronts including putting down riots, establishing relief camps, delivering medical aid, and bringing communication and travel back on line. Just as a real foothold is established in retaking the skies (utilizing existing commercial aircraft supplemented by military resources and ground control systems), a mysterious virus takes hold of the population, spreading globally over the very flight routes that the survivors fought so hard to rebuild.

Couldn’t put it down
Revisado: 04-27-18
Definitely one of the better apocalypse books I’ve read. I like how it is told where each chapter is told from a character’s direct point of view as they had experienced it in the past. I think that is called First Person narration, but each character gets his / her own section of story in a given chapter. Moving, never dull, and I’m getting the next one.

Nutrition Made Clear
Revisado: 08-16-13
If you could sum up Nutrition Made Clear in three words, what would they be?
Dietition's view point.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Nutrition Made Clear?
It was made clear that Buyer Be Ware. Definitely look at the nutrition labels of products, be aware of how many servings in a container, and how many colories/fat per serving.
What aspect of Professor Roberta H. Anding’s performance would you have changed?
The performance of Professor Roberta H. Anding was exceptional.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
It was interesting to learn that vitamines and supplements are not regulated by FDA and some could be harmful to your health, and that they may have more of an ingredient (or less) than what they advertise or have on the nutrition label.
Any additional comments?
Every chapter begins with a classical music score. That made it hard to move around the book to get to a specific topic unless you remember which track contains which topic. I knocked Performance down a couple of stars because of that. There was a time when I wanted to review to a previous topic and I didn't remember where it was. So, it took listening through the music in the beginning of each track before getting to what the title is.
