Great story
Revisado: 07-01-24
I really enjoyed the story. The "she" in the title was not whom I thought it would be. There are a lot of characters (multiple big families) in different time periods to keep track of. Good thing I didn't want to put this book down or I might have lost who was whom. I recommend this, especially if you've enjoyed the author's other books.

wonderful!
Revisado: 05-22-24
The story is so well-written. It's told as a grandmother recounting her life to her adult granddaughter. I loved the historical aspects, learning about life in the early 20th century Boston. And the narrator was superb! I've already started recommending this book to friends and I only finished it ten minutes ago!

Historia
The folklore roots of Christmas under its many other guises (Yule, the Winter Solstice, Saturnalia) is examined in a different, darker light. The Winter Solstice is a time to be afraid. It’s the shortest day of the year, the longest night. In some parts of the world, the sun doesn’t rise at all. It’s dark, and we have to wonder if the sun will ever come back at all. Christmas has always been creepy and with The Fright Before Christmas, you'll see that side. This is a book for everyone who loves a little darkness around the holidays.

I thought I knew the Christmas traditions, but this well-researched book taught me there is so much more behind the stories. There are reasons we do things that go back centuries. Thanks, Jeff, for all this wonderful information.

I was immediately caught up with these characters and their story. I constantly snuck time in my day to listen to the audiobook. when the first book ended on a cliffhanger, there was no pausing to start the next book. I definitely recommend this series!

Good story
Revisado: 07-15-19
The story line was good and I enjoyed it. The narrators had about two voices each, so when they'd have to do three or more characters in a scene, it got confusing. Overall, it was a fun story about characters with supernatural abilities. (Tree nymphs can walk into a tree trunk and travel to another location.) There were also dragons. Phoenixes, beaf shifters. I'd like more stories developing all these characters.

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

Engaging and Delightful! A Must Read/Listen
Revisado: 07-08-19
I love learning behind the scenes stories. These true tales are presented in such a fun way that they are easy to follow along with. The writing and reading style are done as if the author/narrator is having a delightful conversation with the listener. The explosion sounds were fun too. :) At the conclusion, the author ends with "Until next time..." Yes, please! I definitely want more from author Scott McCormick and narrator Prentice Onayemi! Thank you!

Historia
Jen Dixon is not your typical Kansas City kindergarten class mom - or mom in general. Jen already has two college-age daughters by two different (probably) musicians, and it's her second time around the class mom block with five-year-old Max - this time with a husband and father by her side. Though her best friend and PTA president sees her as the "wisest" candidate for the job (or oldest), not all of the other parents agree.

Revisado: 10-20-17
This book was so much fun! There were lots of emails written exactly how you really want to write them, along with just enough drama in and out if the kindergarten classroom. Kindergarten parents can be a crazy bunch. I highly recommend this fun read (listen). Speaking of that, the narrator, also the author, did a fabulous job. I loved her voice and intonations.
