Historia
In this stunning debut, legends collide with reality when a boy is swept into the magical, dangerous world of a girl filled with poison. Everyone knows the legends about the cursed girl - Isabel, the one the senoras whisper about. They say she has green skin and grass for hair, and she feeds on the poisonous plants that fill her family's Caribbean island garden. Some say she can grant wishes; some say her touch can kill.

Magical Realism
Revisado: 04-16-20
I decided to get this book because I loved the lure in the description. The narration was fantastic and I loved how compassionate Luke was. Through his inner thoughts you got a sense that he really felt for others, and for a rich kid was pretty down to earth. What fell short for me with the story was the pacing. I thought that it would take place during a summer and be a slow cook love story with some mystery. But it went super fast, maybe over two weeks and this made me have no emotional connection to Isabella or their relationship. Seriously, I felt like there was no chemistry between the two characters and how could there be when he meets her twice and then suddenly a big twist (predictable one) is revealed and the book is over. The story and characters had major potential it just was majorly rushed...which bummed me out because I felt the writing style was strong and natural.

Great
Revisado: 07-15-19
So sad this beautiful series is over. I loved the arc of all the characters. I do feel that some of the storyline wasn’t needed and because of this filler some storylines were not wrapped up; however the main plot line was great and I loved the new character Henry and what he added to the groups dynamic.

Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs. The trick with found things, though, is how easily they can be lost. Friends can betray. Mothers can disappear. Visions can mislead. Certainties can unravel.

Love these books!

Incredible cliffhanger, and twist! Great chemistry with the two main couples, and development. A little annoyed the Blue acted so moody though, but loved the you saw Rowan’s more sensitive and sweet side.

Historia
Most people want to avoid thinking about death, but Caitlin Doughty - a 20-something with a degree in medieval history and a flair for the macabre - took a job at a crematory, turning morbid curiosity into her life’s work. With an original voice that combines fearless curiosity and mordant wit, Caitlin tells an unusual coming-of-age story full of bizarre encounters, gallows humor, and vivid characters (both living and very dead).

Fantastic
Revisado: 11-13-17
I love the author's YouTube channel and her quirky personality; and unbashful yet unpretentious way she explains things and tells personal stories. She has really helped me gain a more peaceful, in control view point on death! This book was insightful, witty, and written with a lot of heart.

Not my favorite but pretty good
Revisado: 11-09-17
Not my favorite by her, most of the characters were very flat with little substance. However, I enjoyed the sweet relationship between Maggie and Jim and The Blakes. I also liked how real the circumstances were and nothing was romanized, which is what I always expect when reading something by this author. The narrator has a lovely voice and pace--however, the chapter numbers are abrupt: with there barely being a pause for breath after the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

Historia
Henry "Monty" Montague doesn't care that his roguish passions are far from suitable for the gentleman he was born to be. But as Monty embarks on his grand tour of Europe, his quests for pleasure and vice are in danger of coming to an end. Not only does his father expect him to take over the family's estate upon his return, but Monty is also nursing an impossible crush on his best friend and traveling companion, Percy.

Sassy and fun
Revisado: 10-05-17
I loved this story. The narration is excellent; but what really makes this story stand out and so much fun to listen to was Henry's voice and quips and unapologetic vanity. He's a hilarious and honest protagonist struggling with very relevant problems, though it takes place in the 19th century. The story touches upon: abuse, bi-sexuality, gender roles, class and race. Henry's growth is subtle but natural, and I wish for a sequel because I'd love to see what kind of mis-haps and adventures he and Percy can get themselves into as they enter adulthood.
