Historia
For months, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of men, bullet by bullet. With each kill, the tangled network of monsters responsible for the slaughter of 270 civilians becomes increasingly clear. He is given his next target: a plump Libyan diplomat who is prone to drink and is currently in Paris without a single bodyguard. Rapp finds him completely unprotected and asleep in his bed. With confidence in his well-honed skills and conviction of the man’s guilt, he easily sends a bullet into the man’s skull. But in the split second it takes the bullet to leave the silenced pistol, everything changes.

Historia
When the Air National Guard receives an emergency call for help from a remote Arctic research station in Greenland, Senior Master Sergeant Dan Cameron is chosen to lead the rescue mission. In an attempt to combat climate change, the scientists have genetically engineered an aquatic biofilm capable of generating oxygen and lowering the temperature of the underlying seawater, producing environmental conditions that awaken an organism that has lain dormant beneath the ocean floor for millions of years.

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

The Spice is Nice
Revisado: 09-01-07
The dramatic cast make listening to the unabridged version a true joy. There is a small, but growing number of titles that Audible carries that have a cast with numerous readers, not withstanding the complaints about inconsistency from other reviewers.
The power struggle between the Atreides family and the Harkonnen clan is a focused struggle between families fighting over the control of Spice Planet Arakis.
The spice is a highly addictive substance that only comes from desert planet Arakis and is coveted throughout the universe. Whoever controls the spice, controls the universe.
The development of young Paul Atreides from a teenager with his test of the Gom Jabbar box until he actualizes his full power is the heart of the novel.
No review should give away just what is the source of the spice.
Arakis is a tough planet. Only the Fremen are suited to live there.
There are many excellent ideas concerning planetary ecology, that we can actually apply to our own Planet Earth. Part of ecology is trying to modify a hostile environment. Fremen have hidden thousands of water stores which at the right time, they hope to activate to re-capture a part of the planet from desert. Fremen know how to work with the desert winds, using Still Suits, to get through the difficult desert day.
They don't get much better than this one folks. And I've been an audio book nut for close to 15 years, starting at the public library with cassette tapes. The heart of great science fiction is to transport you to see perspectives beyond which you usually see. Dune does this.
Get lost in the desert planet!

Suspense, politics, war, humor and intergalactic finance. A towering masterwork of science fiction adventure and one of the best-selling science fiction novels of all time L. How We Look to Aliens
Revisado: 08-02-07
My favorite L Ron Hubbard book. I listened to it the first time as 32 audiotapes unabridged. That was when I learned I was hooked on audio books.
This is the abridged version, and hope Audible will add the unabridged one.
The motivation of why Nitrogen breathing aliens would wish to take over Earth is believable.
Johnny Goodboy Tyler leads the earthlings in rebellion against the tyranny of the aliens.
The 'Learning Machine' explains why he could advance so quickly in understanding the alien worlds.
Most interesting are the negotiations to turn Earth from a weak slave planet into a protected planet.
Thought the movie was OK, but felt the book was much better.
The movie wasn't John Travolta's best, but I'm sure he enjoyed making it because the book was written by the founder of the Church of Scientology.
One of my top 10 science fiction reads... up there with the likes of Dune, because it has you look at your own planet in a new way. And isn't that what science fiction is about.
More proof that L Ron Hubbard is to this day, one of the more popular sci fi writers and read by millions.

Historia
The explosion that shatters the smart Parisian apartment reverberates around the globe. In an instant, a suspected terrorist is dead and half a million dollars has vanished. Within days, the CIA is certain it has found a connection between the dead man and a planned terrorist attack on US soil. Determined to avert another 9/11, they have assembled an elite counterterrorist task force, code name: Blood Money. Its mission: to follow the money trail. Its secret weapon: forensic accountant Adam Chapel.

Better than Patriot's Club
Revisado: 09-13-06
Once in a while you come across an audio book that keeps you up at night because of the great writing and plot. This book teaches the reader about cultural differences between how the Westerner looks at life versus how terrorists see things.
People turn out to not be who you first think they are. Loyalties are hidden until the end and subtlely revealed.
Reich makes you wonder if the cultural differences can ever be breached. As the characters travel through Europe chasing down money trail leads, time is running out. Unless forensic account Alan Chappel and agent Sara Churchill can detect where the money trail ends and who is ultimately behind things, a disaster of immense proportions will ensue.
Went and purchased all the rest of the Christopher Reich titles after this one and am hoping that audible soon adds all titles for download.
