I loved that they actually used a Black narrator for an obviously Black character. Although Nina was an annoying character at times, that comes with being a cop I suppose. Sorry not sorry. Both narrators did a great job for sure.

This was a nice palette cleanser from my usual dark romance roster that was disillusioning the hell out of me. However, I’m not going to lie the r*pe and subsequent actions of those involved rang true and hit hole. My own SA is shockingly similar without the rich family. A 1st cousin. The secret being spilled and yet erased by the people who were supposed to protect me (parents if you can call them that) and for all intensive purposes the evil bastard getting to walk around free and clear. Mine has a family now with daughters and no remorse. At least in the story he seemed to be ashamed of himself. If he and mine had any decency they would have left this world on the first thing smoking. Gray’s alcohol addiction is like my food/weight obsession. It’s funny how the incident is bad but the aftermath can be worse. Her mother was a dreadful bitch for calling him to handle Gray’s legal issue. Yikes. At the mere suggestion I wish she had jumped across whatever furniture she could to wring that woman’s neck! How dare she?! I’m sure she could have gotten away with handling out that particular asswhupping by chalking it up to withdrawal.

I’m not done yet but I started it in the AM and want to know what happens so I’ll be finishing this one. Worth listening to and besides it’s free.

This was my first read by this author and I believe the narrators were new to me as well. I love the male narrators voice on this, very sexy without trying too hard and the female narrator ended up growing on me with her snark. I knew from the beginning when Aiden and Kayla met that they were going to bone but had no idea how it was going to bleed into the pen pal but half way through their relationship I called what was going to happen.

Don’t get me wrong it’s very well written and I listened to the entirety in one day something I haven’t done in months of audio books. I couldn’t stand how the heroine was portrayed and I’m getting beyond sick of the weak woman pretending to be strong while being a frightened Karen waiting for a man to save her. She harped so much on the electrician smoking weed and going therapy that I slowly started to wish she would be murdered the judgmental slag. She could have benefited from smoking maybe she would have gotten that stick out of her a-nyway. Aiden’s friend Jack had it right and I loved him for not holding back AND I wanted to punch her in the face for her answer and refusal to be honest with him about her husband. All of this will make sense by the time the twist comes around. NO SPOILERS.
Aiden was the epitome of the love of my life. He was amazing and by comparison 😔 sigh. His story hurt so bad I screamed and cried real tears over it. Then anger set in and made themself comfortable. I hate how this ended and the twist and the heroine. Sorry. But I hate her. Aiden deserved better than that.
All that to say obviously it was well written and performed or wouldn’t be considering buying it just to burn it on my front lawn and sending this author the ticket I will inevitably receive. The spice my GAWD! It was some of the hottest I have heard in a while. Little Bunny, Master, Sir are all things that have made me cringe hard in the past but sound like my love language out of this narrators mouth. For a lot of people this will be an amazing read but I’m sad that I chose this as my first novel by this author. It was heavy so be prepared and enjoy. Don’t read too many of the reviews, go in blind like I did.

This is the first book I’ve heard by this author and while I’m disgusted with your characters, it’s a decent story for sure. Teddy Hamilton was incredibly sexy and the female narrator also played her role well.

Now:

Addy is an entire dumba**. The worst part is that KNOWS and ADMITS she’s stupid and yet continues! Even if the guy she got killed was a bad man she went out of her way to take that guy back there to see what her stalker would do. I’m pulling up on thinking this woman is mentally ill. She thinks her mother is dreadful skank but she is cut from the same cloth. I was done with her by Chapter 9, but I was intrigued enough to keep going.
The great grandmother story line is interesting but like every reveal in this book it’s bogged down by Addys inner monologues that seem to go on forever. It’s a decent read but I don’t think I’m going to do the 2nd one.

I tiptoed around this title for longer than I want to admit because I’m not religious and have zero interest in being so. If anyone has ever read That Sik Luv (different author) I thought it would be like that but less…dark and depraved. But I’ve been in a book rut between romance/erotica and psychological thrillers. I wanted something different and caved into this one after the preview and the reviews. Neither do this story ANY REAL justice!!!

This is the first book I’ve tried by this author and ma’am NO NOTES FOR YOU!!! You did the hell out of this book and I have stocked up on extra credits to sacrifice in the name of Jacob Morgan. Elena Wolfe is a wonderful narrator and I’ve listened to a few dozen novels with her and she stays delivering. Jacob…o Jacob. You were new to me. My first thought was that you sounded like a different version of Christian Fox but your voice does things to me that his never has. I have never wanted to peruse a church looking for a priest…I mean I have purchased more than enough books to make up for our lack of time together up to this point. Definitely have a long time fan in me.

Poppy (I hate that name but soldiered through) has big cl*t energy! She managed to snag a hot, young, sweet and dominant, devout priest! That’s power that comes with bragging rights the likes of which I could not dream. Beautiful, accomplished and privileged white woman who gives up all her parents money and security to strip and do the books for a private gentleman’s club is the dumbest thing I’ve heard since our last president was elected, but it works for the story. Tyler aka Father Bell is 29 and has been a sworn priest for 3 years before Poppy came along. Sensitive, depraved, brutally hot and warring with himself we get to see a lot of his inner struggle and it’s…beautiful and heartbreaking. I’m glad that while there is a cliffhanger there is a HEA coming for them both. I won’t spoil too much of what happens because I can’t possibly. The smut is soooooooo good and the love between them is so overwhelming that it made me wonder if I ever loved anyone this much. Enough to sacrifice as much as he will have to or to want to be with someone no matter what is thrown at us. It really made me think about a lot. Like why people turn to religion in the first place. It’s worth all the credit! Unless you have church trauma or are overly religious.

I’ve already brought 4 other books so on to the next.

This is my 3rd book by this author and I found her less than a week ago. I LOVED One of Us is Dead, liked The Perfect Marriage but I hated this one with so much of me. I blame myself, the curiosity was too strong even after reading the reviews so spoilers will be at the very very bottom and you decide if it’s worth it to read that and move on or pay the piper.

The narrators did their jobs. The male narrator did okay with female voices, honestly I don’t know why they don’t do every book in duet when they know it’s the most demanded but i digress.

Grace is overworked and needs time away from NY so she chooses wait for it…a ranch in Wyoming to unwind. Immediately her interactions are weird and she is finding a reason to be suspicious at every single turn. People don’t trust her, rightfully so, and for someone who is only going to be there 10 days she seems to want everyone’s secrets and lies before she leaves. I was beyond annoyed at how she kept talking about how tough she is and how it takes a lot to scare her BUT jumped at every sound. She fed the beast messing with the man that ran the AirBnB and it was clear it wouldn’t end well with the title but truth be told there was no twist. Explained in spoilers.

Calvin is the handsome country boy who left his family behind to live a life in Colorado only to return to man his family ranch with his parents death. Although his brother Joe was the one who stuck around he wasn’t beloved so he ended up in his shadow. Right away he’s creepy. Awkward is understandable but he was literally a creep. He fell head over heels and decided that Grace was going to be his no matter what. This is a man that lost his girlfriend a year prior to a car accident that his brother caused but here he is ready to get back on the love horse with someone he met 5 whole seconds ago. I was charmed at first but the veneer was cracking around the anniversary of his girlfriend’s death which also happened to be his birthday.

Quickly: Joe should have killed his brother. The resentment was high and rightfully so. Fathers really can find a way to ruin their children even after they leave this earth. Although Calvin was beloved and he would have spent the rest of his days in prison (maybe) it would have been worth it and a better ending. Charlotte could have also been a good candidate to kill him. He broke up her relationship with his friend by sleeping with her which I now get the feeling was only to get her focus back on him. He told her to her face he never cared for her and the harsh reality of him saying that he regretted the moment they shared as soon as it was over was enough to punctuate that fact. I wouldn’t have blamed her at all even if she was a dreadful bitch for most of the book I don’t think she deserved that considering.

All in all I could have lived my entire life without reading this book. It was a slow burn that turned boring and annoying like watching paint try. Too much detail not enough plot. Read at your own risk and SPOILERS BELOW

SSPPPOOOIIILLLLEEERRSSSSS (SPOILERS)

LISA the GF: Calvin killed her.

THE ACCIDENT: Calvin was driving both Lisa and Joe home when she told him that she was moving to Alaska for a job. She was there temporarily and work dried up. She still wanted to be with him just not stay in Wyoming. He shoved her hard enough to hit her head and undid her seatbelt before he hit the elk on purpose killing her and severely injuring Joe.

JOE the Brother: Calvin dragged him to the front seat so he would take the blame for the accident. He was in a coma for a week AND went to jail for a year behind his own brother who he never did anything to! Calvin is already beloved by his parents and coddled by everyone in town but he couldn’t resist taking Joe further down. Pathetic.

THE MISSING GIRL Briana: Was indeed tied up and stored somewhere on the property. Grace set her free when all was said and done.

THE OTHER GUEST Albert: He ran into the agitated bees and died from stings.

WIFI was available the whole time he just kept unplugging the router to keep everyone isolated.

THE TWIST: Grace is a serial killer named Avery Adams (or is she??) with an whole husband and kids in Chicago. Big house, nice car, the works. Those blue eyes Calvin wouldn’t shut up about were contacts, her eyes are brown. She recognized the crazy in him immediately but was there intent on killing him either way. She books rooms under fake names and goes from state to state killing people and telling her family she is at a yoga retreat. She drugged Calvin’s alcohol and he sabotaged her truck until they had to duke it out. In the end he confessed to everything and she stabbed him to death.

I have been on a binge ever since I read One of Us is Dead-literally my favorite so far so check it out if you haven’t. Doesn’t connect to this story or anything but is chef kiss.

As for this one, don’t get me wrong it’s well written. Sarah and Adam are college sweethearts who were once ambitious in their own right. Sarah, despite her upbringing busted her ass to be a successful lawyer. A named partner in her firm, she never wanted a family of her own, just her husband. Unfortunately, Adam was a one hit wonder novelist who had zero interest in getting a regular job in the dry years since his fame dried up. Sarah being the all supportive but admittedly absent wife brought him an entire lake house for him to not write in. Instead he did a stint as a creative writing teacher before returning to “full time writing” which was basically getting drunk and eventually cheating on his wife.

I know this book is well written because the anger and resentment I was feeling when Adam’s f*ckboy was in full effect was a little surprising. All his being in love with this side chick and wanting to leave Sarah then 2 hours later flip flopping to wanting to break it off with her for a family with his wife pissed me the hell off. There were a few elements of the story that were unrealistic but it is indeed fiction. Truth be told though everyone in this story is unlikeable, no one here to root for. Everyone has secrets and everyone is messing each other over. I knew a bit of the ending before it happened but there still was a twist. It’s worth reading and a credit but it didn’t hit the way I thought it would.

found myself irrationally angry as it started

For once, I’m not going to do any spoilers whatsoever. This book had me turning off my TV, spending all my time at work and school listening! Great cast of women and it was just perfect. The twist actually felt like a decent twist for once in a long time. One of my new favorite books and authors.

I’m not going to lie, I was severely underwhelmed by the ending. It’s my own fault, along the way I found myself thinking of all the crazy endings I would have come up with and dismissed this one early on as too predictable. It’s a good leisurely listen though.

I do have a question for the author, why did you give us a glimpse into the Detectives horrible marriage if he wasn’t going to end up with the main character?! Or even the private detective? He was clearly interested in her and it went nowhere. Sigh.

I’m glad it was free.

This was my first experience with CD Reiss and ma’am you did NOT disappoint! Everything about how this book was written and performed with EVERYTHING. If this had been anything other than a duet, I probably would have bailed and just read the book without the hot and chilling effect only Joe Arden’s voice can give me.

On that note, Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell are always an inspiration together. The chemistry between this is amazing (read Flock) and for good reason since they are married IRL. The passion, the emotion, the raw animalistic growls had me blushing at work and deciding after about 15 chapters to only listen at home.

I’m not going to give spoilers per se because I haven’t finished yet. However, I am going to wildly speculate🧐 since the people I surround myself are done hearing me squeal about this book and have zero intention of reading it themselves.

Greyson is a military brat who joined like her father before her seemingly out of spite. The service took her chance to have a better father and her mother a stable marriage so she would marry the military and whoever she met would just have to deal. Big and unhealthy get them before I get got mentality. Nearly 10 years after she joined, she walked away without much of a backward glance to become a civilian with her surgeon husband Caden. A trained psychiatrist by trade she starts a private practice and tries to acclimate to living in MANHATTAN in a 3 STORY BROWNSTONE!!! She gets to work almost immediately working with other former vets with PTSD and making great strides, until she realizes she missed the signs in her husband and that mistake was going to cost her.

Caden is the tall, hot, blue eyed, dark haired alpha hole. The old money. The medical degree and star power. The military background he was the first in his family to take on. He has it all and now he has a beautiful, brave, and intelligent wife to add to his resume. Two years ago they met in the midst of a war and fell in love enough to marry and for him to convince her to leave the military. He’s perfect. Until you look a little closer. He’s not just Caden Kevin St. John and he is about to introduce Greyson to all of him whether she likes it (she definitely benefited from it) or not.

There is ALOT of spice in this book which made it more appealing for me, but it tends to border on abuse at times. She consents despite his urging her not to and that among other things is what I found myself frustrated with. These too are hypersexual to the point that it’s like an obsession they both need help for. Grey ended up irking my damn soul the more she flip flopped more than footwear of the same name! The Caden she married was cold but could find ways to be sweet and attentive. Now he’s split into distinct characters (Dark and Light Caden) and while the loving one is the one that makes her feel safe and loved, she resent him. She brushes him off, sees him as weak and while she will still bone him she will also push him trying to make him into the darker one. BUT as soon as the Dark Caden shows us, uses her like a s*x doll and telling her that she’s worth having because it’s not easy to control her, she finds him insufferable. Not enough to keep her panties on for more than a week. It feels sick and wrong, but hot and taboo at the same time. You know they love each other as much as two people who are mentally damaged can, and you root for them despite yourself. They are each other’s greatest strength and worst enemy. Worth every credit and this is the whole book in one shot.
