Love the characters!
Revisado: 11-30-21
Yes, the storyline is very close to what’s happening now, but he’s showing us what could happen if people don’t speak up. The characters are real and believable. I love all the main characters. They feel realistic. I love all of Mark’s books, but I’m glad he didn’t use the same formula for a weak, whiny female character. I feel this is one of his best books! Great narration as well. Definitely recommend.

Post apocalyptic fiction for YA
Revisado: 11-27-21
This was a great YA post apocalyptic fiction book. While there is action and violence it’s done in a way that’s appropriate for young adults. As an adult, I found the story entertaining and the characters likeable (or not depending upon who they were). Great storyline and narrator. This was my first time listening to the narrator and I found she does a fantastic job with tempo as well as characters. I’d recommend!

Olivia has found someone. He's everything she secretly dreams of, but he's strictly an online-only friend. While he tries to remain hidden behind his throbbing pierced-heart avatar and swoon-worthy screen name, she's at last ready to put her rocky past behind her. If she can convince him to step out from behind the curtain, maybe then she could finally find - and keep - her own happily-ever-after.

Excellent!
Revisado: 11-24-21
I love this series, and I’m so mad at myself for waiting so long to listen to it. The drama unfolding with Olivia explains a lot about why she is the way she is in the SHTF series (but it still drives me crazy!). Excellent book; the suspense is natural and causes physical reactions. The narrator continues to do an excellent job and I enjoy listening to her. I’d absolutely recommend this book and the entire series!

What an awesome ride!
Revisado: 11-24-21
Wow! Suspense is right! This book pulled me in from the first five minutes and didn’t let me go until it was done. The writing by this author is amazing; I could physically feel the suspense. For others who live alone, I’d suggest waiting until you can start this book in the morning instead of later in the day. I had to know how Ms. Akers pulled the book together and wound up staying awake all night. This book Is my favorite so far. The narrator also does a great job and is excellent making the words flow naturally. Excellent book!

Historia
In his last mission, Conor Maguire was called back into action by his handler, Ricardo, to go after a man who helped facilitate the terror attacks that devastated America. When Ricardo next pays Conor a visit, it's at the behest of a shadowy collective of patriots determined to purge the government of those who sold out the nation. It should have been a simple mission, a short trip to "punch tickets" in the way that Conor had successfully done hundreds of times around the world. But nothing in this mission will be simple.

Suspense, non-stop action and a great plot line
Revisado: 08-28-21
Wow, is this book full of suspense! If I was a nail biter, I wouldn’t have any nails left. As it was, I wound up pacing around my house and analyzing possible scenarios in my mind of what could happen next. The amount of action and the high paced flow added to my jitteriness. The characters continue to be realistic, showing thoughtfulness and learning as they survive this disaster. This book is hands down, my favorite in this series. I would definitely recommend this entire series!

Great writing
Revisado: 08-26-21
I love all Franklin Horton’s books, but it took me awhile to get into this series. I listened to the first book, and just have to say I can’t stand listening to Scottish or Irish accents. No offense to anyone (I am Irish), but it’s really hard for my ears and brain to process. (I didn’t hear those sounds as a child.) So, while I really loved the first book, and the characters in general, it took me a bit to come around on this series, as I can’t hold up an iPad to read an ebook. I’m so glad I did. It didn’t bother me as much with this book and plan to continue on. The writing is just as amazing as normal and the non-stop action kept my attention through this entire day! I’m not really a fan of Barb’s as she’s a little too rough around the edges for me, but I absolutely love the Mad Mick. I can’t wait to see what else is in store for this group. Kevin Pierce is a little too good at narrating, just kidding, (the whole accent thing); he rocks this book as usual. 5 stars all the way.

With Indiana in their sights...they have no choice but to stop. Will the storm or their pursuers be the end of Cory and Anna? Why hadn’t he thought about it before? Winchester, Illinois was where his old friend, Abe lived. He wasn’t just a pal, Abe had a bunker. Maybe they could hide and ride out the weather. Perhaps they could even escape the two men trying to kill them. What they didn’t know...was someone guessed their next move. Was the bunker out of reach?

Great series!
Revisado: 08-24-21
The action didn’t let up throughout this trilogy and many questions were answered, even some questions I wouldn’t have thought to ask. Funnily enough, in my previous review, I mentioned not knowing anything about the SHTF event; while true in book two, it wasn’t true for book three. I think the author’s interpretation of the event is interesting though, as not much emphasis is placed on it nor much conversation centers around it. Interesting book and well thought out characters.

Historia
Cory’s family was his first concern. He had to get home, but Indiana was more than 2,000 miles away, and he had only one question: What dangers lie ahead? The warmth of the sun faded. When the temperature dropped, panic set swept the world. Fears of doom terrified the masses. Gangs roamed the streets. The girl he had helped had proved to be a valuable travel companion. Cory has no idea what Anna isn’t telling him.

Action packed and unpredictable
Revisado: 08-23-21
Wow, this series seems to be taking off into a landscape of horror! It’s as though at every turn, Cory is having to clean up another mess in order to move forward. I love the non-stop action and and the fact that the story, while we can see Scarface’s next move, is unpredictable. It keeps me listening late into the night (yeah, thanks Derek, I’m on two hours of sleep) waiting to hear what will happen next. I also find it interesting that while the book is about a SHTF event(s), it’s not even discussed as something that will change their futures. I just take it to mean, stop analyzing Kelly, and enjoy the story.

Cory’s life was hard. A horrific childhood, bad marriage, and a stint in prison set him on the path. His time in organized crime was miserable, but he had no choice. He did pick up a few skills along the way, though, and just in time for the end-of-the-world.

Different and interesting
Revisado: 08-22-21
I’m not sure why this book doesn’t have the best reviews, as I didn’t read them, but I thought the book was great! From the first chapter, I was intrigued. The fast paced action made time pass quickly and the growth of the main character was compelling. Not many on the inside want to get out. Usually if they do, it’s because they’re just tired of the life and depression has taken hold. Instead, while Cory’s tired of the life, the love of his family is helping him stay strong. Pulled in two different directions, he needs to battle internally as the heat gets turned up and he needs to battle externally with seemingly never ending foes.

The KGR seems unstoppable. To beat them, Wes fears he may have to become what he hates. An unfeeling man capable of unspeakable things. Amazing!
Revisado: 08-22-21
I’m sad it’s over, but Mr. Craven did an amazing job pulling all the pieces of the puzzle together. I had a few things figured out, nothing like the full picture though. I really liked the way Wes and company were able to unravel them. I truly enjoyed this series with all the twists and deception, which caused despair and desperation, therefore causing other actions to be or not to be taken. Excellent writing and I urge all who are into the post-apocalyptic genre to read it. Kevin Pierce does a masterful job as always relating the thoughts and actions with genuine sounding emotion behind his voice.
