Historia
Lucidly and beautifully written, Peace Is Every Step contains commentaries, meditations, personal anecdotes, and stories from Nhat Hanh's experiences as a peace activist, teacher, and community leader. It begins where the listener already is - in the kitchen, office, driving a car, walking - and shows how deep meditative presence is available now.

Historia
In 1998, Dominique Mielle joined Canyon Partners—a small, little-known hedge fund. The job was trading distressed securities and high-yield bonds, known back then, respectively, as vulture investing and junk bonds. Over the span of two decades, she rose to the top of the firm as the only female partner and senior portfolio manager—in what became one of the largest hedge funds in the US. Damsel in Distressed explores the innerworkings of hedge funds while exposing what it takes to succeed as a woman investor.

Fantastic book!
Revisado: 07-26-22
This book manages to be a fascinating history of hedge funds since the 90s and humerous good fun all at the same time. Highly engaging from start to finish.

Historia
For generations, everything has been getting faster, better, and cheaper. Finally, we reached the point that almost anything you could ever want could be sent to your home within days - even hours - of when you decided you wanted it. America made that happen, but now America has lost interest in keeping it going.

Fantastic Survey of Global Concerns
Revisado: 07-07-22
Peter Zeihan provides an incredible breadth of information about world history and future forecasts. Some of his predictions are provocative and contrarian, but there is little question all are based on a careful consideration of global trends. I feel a lot smarter for having listened to this book.

Historia
In March 2006, the world’s richest men sipped champagne in an opulent New York hotel. They were preparing to compete in a poker tournament with million-dollar stakes. At the card table that night was Peter Muller, who managed a fabulously successful hedge fund called PDT. With him was Ken Griffin, who was the tough-as-nails head of Citadel Investment Group. There, too, were Cliff Asness, the sharp-tongued, mercurial founder of the hedge fund AQR Capital Management, and Boaz Weinstein, chess “life master” and king of the credit-default swap.

Outstanding history of modern finance
Revisado: 04-28-21
Fascinating history and engaging story. This book won't teach you trading edges and that is clearly not it's goal. But if you want to understand the history of how we arrived at our modern markets, this is an excellent book.

Incredible historical account of WWII
Revisado: 03-16-21
This historical account of living through the beginning of WWII is truely astonishing. I thought I knew the history of the war fairly well but to read these contemporary observations provides an entirely new perspective. The book begins with a number of interesting reflections of Hitler's Germany but from the moment the author finds himself in Vienna on the day of the German invasion, the diary enteries take on an energy and intensity that remains throughout the remainder. Very hard to stop listening. Highly recommended work.

Historia
Stefan Zweig's memoir, The World of Yesterday, recalls the golden age of prewar Europe - its seeming permanence, its promise and its devastating fall with the onset of two world wars. Zweig's passionate, evocative prose paints a stunning portrait of an era that danced brilliantly on the brink of extinction. It is an unusually humane account of Europe from the closing years of the 19th century through to World War II, seen through the eyes of one of the most famous writers of his era.

Extraordinary life and history
Revisado: 12-26-20
This is an extraordinary eye witness account of a remarkable period in European history. Though probably not well known to modern readers, the years prior to WWI were a prosperous and open minded time of great culture. The decent into the first and then second world wars holds important lessons for our own time. Also not well known in our day is that Stefan Zweig was an important cultural figure in continental Europe and as such knew many of the great people of his time. Just some of the 'walk-on' characters in this book include the sculptor Rodin, William Butler Yeats, James Joyce, Richard Strauss, and Sigmund Freud. Lastly I'll note the reading could not have been more perfectly suited to beautiful writing of the author. This is one of the best audio books I have ever heard.

Historia
All of our relationships and decisions involve trading at some level. This is a book about decision-making through the lens of a professional prop trader. For years, behavioral and cognitive scientists have shown us how human decision-making is flawed and biased. But how do you learn to avoid these problems in day-to-day decisions where you have to react in real-time? What are the important things to think about and to act on?

Great book on the philosophy of trading
Revisado: 05-09-20
Truly interesting book on trading from an experienced former market maker. It doesn't provide you with an edge for your trading, but helps you better understand what it takes to be successful at the trading game. Really priceless insights from someone with this type of background. Highly recommend.

Incredible Saga!
Revisado: 04-17-19
This is an incredible samurai tale that holds your attention throughout it's many hours of twists and turns. Beyond the greatness of the story itself, the performance of the narrator is by far the best audible book narration I have heard so far, and I've heard many such books. He manages to beautifully bring to life many characters of different ages, genders and status so convincingly that it's a remarkable achievement. My highest recommendation!

Historia
Every leader must be ready and willing to take charge, to make hard, crucial calls for the good of the team and the mission. Something much more difficult to understand is that in order to be a good leader, one must also be a good follower. This is a dichotomy - a Dichotomy of Leadership. It is, as authors Jocko Willink and Leif Babin explained in their best-selling first audiobook, Extreme Ownership, “Simple, Not Easy”.

Historia
The Tao of Seneca (volumes 1-3) is an introduction to Stoic philosophy through the words of Seneca. If you study Seneca, you'll be in good company. He was popular with the educated elite of the Greco-Roman Empire, but Thomas Jefferson also had Seneca on his bedside table. Thought leaders in Silicon Valley tout the benefits of Stoicism, and NFL management, coaches, and players alike - from teams such as the Patriots and Seahawks - have embraced it.

Outstanding in every way!
Revisado: 09-02-17
This work is full of wisdom that remarkably speaks us 2000 years later. Moreover, Sececa writes with enough wit and humor that this work manages to be highly entertaining at times, not what one would expect from hearing "philosophy." The narrator is outstanding as well. I should also note given some earlier comments, I had no quality problems at any point in the recording.
