Classics Well Read
Revisado: 06-03-23
Some of the greatest science fiction well read. Some of these stories I had read many years ago, but a real pleasure hearing them. A view of the future from the past. Highly recommend.

Historia
The United States is in the grip of a crisis of bad history. Distortions of the past promoted in the conservative media have led large numbers of Americans to believe in fictions over facts, making constructive dialogue impossible and imperiling our democracy. In Myth America, Kevin M. Kruse and Julian E. Zelizer have assembled an all-star team of fellow historians to push back against this misinformation.

Disproves the myth that History is a scholarship
Revisado: 02-18-23
The world really doesn’t need this book. The people who already understand these concepts to be myths need not listen and those who still cling to these concepts won’t make it to the end. So, spare yourself the time and trouble. This book isn’t going to change you.

Well Done
Revisado: 01-27-23
A wonderful, balanced overview of his life and his work. Von Neumann played a huge part in mathematics, science, and technology during a time of tremendous expansion in these fields. This is a book about the mathematics, science and technology as much as the man—much more than a biography.

Historia
The nearly eight years of Harry Truman’s presidency—among the most turbulent in American history—were marked by victory in the wars against Germany and Japan; the first use of an atomic bomb and the development of far deadlier weapons; the start of the Cold War and the creation of the NATO alliance; the Marshall Plan to rebuild the wreckage of postwar Europe; the Red Scare; and the fateful decision to commit troops to fight a costly “limited war” in Korea.

More than strictly biographical, the focus on Truman’s presidency and cabinet added much to my understanding of Truman and the world during his presidency.

Historia
Just Kids begins as a love story and ends as an elegy. It serves as a salute to New York City during the late 60s and 70s and to its rich and poor, its hustlers and hellions. A true fable, it is a portrait of two young artists' ascent, a prelude to fame.

An amazing, authentic story read by the author, just like one of her poetry readings or other performances. Only Patti Smith could tell this story.

Historia
For all of neuroscience's advances, we've made little progress on its biggest question: How do simple cells in the brain create intelligence? Jeff Hawkins and his team discovered that the brain uses map-like structures to build a model of the world - not just one model, but hundreds of thousands of models of everything we know. This discovery allows Hawkins to answer important questions about how we perceive the world, why we have a sense of self, and the origin of high-level thought.

Interesting
Revisado: 02-05-22
I enjoyed this book, and it raised some interesting points. I was hoping for more neuroscience, but much of the information is more philosophical than factual. More metaphysics than physics. The author freely admits many may disagree with his views, and he presents in a kind of “take it or leave it” style. Overall, I’m glad I listened.

Interesting Interviews
Revisado: 10-31-21
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook, and highly recommend it. It’s more a collection of interesting interviews of high achievers, many of whom are great leaders, more than a study of how to lead. It’s about billionaire interviewing other billionaires and millionaires, with a few observations on leadership.
The conclusion is consistent with other studies of successful people and great leaders. They come from a variety of backgrounds and all have a unique way of leading. Success comes from a combination of luck, hard work, luck, perseverance, luck, leadership, luck, great ideas, luck, risk taking, luck, drive, and luck. There is no secret to success, really.
