Historia
The Bodie Island Lighthouse Library Classic Novel Book Club is reading Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne while workers dig into the earth to repair the Lighthouse Library’s foundations. The digging halts when Lucy pulls a battered tin box containing a Civil War-era diary from the pit. Tucked inside is a hand-drawn map of the Outer Banks, accompanied by a page written in an indecipherable code.

Lucy, Lucy, Lucy
Revisado: 03-21-21
Although the series is good, the characters do leave much to be desired. I cannot imagine a grown woman who isn’t able to ever stand up for herself with a busy body, and yet she can go toe to toe with a murderer over and over. Are we to believe that if you are a proper southern lady you can’t tell people to leave your home? If someone showed up at my home at 10 pm uninvited, I’d have no problem telling them to get lost. You have a man who pretends to be English and no one calls him on it? A woman who butts into a business meetings uninvited and whom no one tells her to leave? Please. Just please. A more realistic approach would be welcome.

Historia
Jake and Ellie have been through a lot together, from home repair to homicide investigation. So when they decide to open a chocolate-themed bakery, they figure it'll be a piece of cake. With Ellie's old family recipes luring in customers, they expect to make plenty of dough this Fourth of July weekend. Having family home for the holiday only sweetens the deal for Jake - that is, until the ill wind of an early-season hurricane blows up her family's plans. But as bitter as the storm is, something even more sinister is brewing in the kitchen of The Chocolate Moose - where health inspector Matt Muldoon is found murdered.

Jacobia with a LISP?
Revisado: 01-29-20
The story itself was ok. A little too much whining about Sam. The biggest obstacle I had listening to this book was the narrators lisp. Never reading the series prior to this was Jacobia written with a lisp, so listening to someone narrate the book with a lisp was off putting. But hey, that’s just my two cents.

Historia
FBI Agent Landon Michaels has officially moved in with his girlfriend, Bay Winchester; Mrs. Little is planning an impromptu festival; and there’s a new witch in town. The question is: Is Scarlet Darksbane a real witch? Bay is in the middle of all of it. She has her hands full thanks to her imminent purchase of The Whistler...and the fact that Landon and Thistle seem to be butting heads while sharing the same roof. Thistle isn’t long for the guesthouse, but the weeks of overlap before she moves promise to try Bay’s patience.

Not the best storyline.
Revisado: 03-17-18
While I usually enjoy these books, this story just fell flat for me. I just didn't like the whole family renaissance actors storyline. It just felt like the story was thrown out there with little thought. Maybe writing so many different books at the same time is finally making a difference in story quality. While I understand that the whole living situation needs to change for Bay, I can't imagine an actual FBI agent acting so childish. Really disappointed this time.

Historia
Tillie Winchester's past is about to come back to haunt her, and what she sees as fun and games someone else sees as a recipe for murder. When a local woman is poisoned at Hemlock Cove's senior center, Aunt Tillie is the prime suspect. Bay, Thistle and Clove don't believe their great-aunt is guilty - although Thistle is fine if the police want to haul her away for a long weekend. Everyone in town is suspicious, but things spiral out of control when FBI Agent Landon Michaels' boss believes he can't be objective where his girlfriend's family is concerned and sends another agent to lead the investigation. The new agent is gung-ho, headstrong, and making witchy enemies at every turn. When the investigation turns to the past instead of the present, Aunt Tillie refuses to talk and a long held Hemlock Cove secret risks being exposed. Bodies start piling up as old grudges overlap with new clues and the Winchesters are caught in the crossfire.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 11-14-17
While the story itself was good, and you should definitely READ it, the choice of changing the narrator after the same person narrated the first 7 full length books was a huge mistake. The narrator has very little range and makes all the characters sound like they have mental deficiencies. The snark you are used to is lost in this audible version as the woman has no clues how the characters seem to interact. I can say this is the first full length audible story in this series I never once laughed at. I hope Aris returns as the narrator because I won't waste my money on anything else this woman reads.

Good story, cringe worthy narration.
Revisado: 03-17-17
I have read the books in this series, and they have all made me laugh out loud. I love them! So, looking for a book I could listen to that I would enjoy I purchased this.
The narrator talked a mile a minute, which is how the book is read, but since she has no range it is almost impossible to figure out who is actually talking. Maybe it's me, but I will stay away from books read by Aris in the future.

I love this book!
Revisado: 03-05-17
I first read this book shortly after graduating and I couldn't put it down. Finding it on audible was even better than reading it. The narration is outstanding, bringing the characters to life more than I thought possible. I have to admit that for a couple of nights, after setting the sleep timer I would just press play on my ear buds and end up listening until 2 am. Not something I recommend if you have to be alert early in the morning, but it was too hard to stop listening. You will not be disappointed with this book.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Excellent book
Revisado: 08-18-15
This book while not only entertaining, will help people to give pause the next time they speak with an elderly person, whether they are a relative or not. Sometimes people forget that our elders have lived a lifetime and have great stories to tell as does Jacob who is ninety or is it ninety three, had to remember at that age.
