Historia
Greed. Lies. Corruption. These are the foundational elements of the American Mafia story. Here, the pursuit of power overshadows even the desire for a dollar, and self-interest outweighs the greater good. It’s a world that’s foreign to the average American—or is it? The values of our democracy and those of Mafia culture are separated by a thin line that’s quickly disintegrating.

A great book that was hard to stop listening to. If there's an expert on mafia, and then shows the connection between unions & government, this is it

Historia
Almost all accounts of D-Day are told from the Allied perspective, with the emphasis on how German resistance was overcome on June 6, 1944. But what was it like to be a German soldier in the bunkers and gun emplacements of the Normandy coast, facing the onslaught of the mightiest seaborne invasion in history? What motivated the German defenders, what were their thought processes - and how did they fight from one strong point to another, among the dunes and fields, on that first cataclysmic day?

Easy to follow, informative, and a must read
Revisado: 01-14-25
This book reiterated what I've already witnessed first hand. The City I live in was fortunate enough to hire Tim Bolduc as our first City Manager. After a ridiculous amount of pushback with scare tactics and misinformation from "the good ol boys", the citizens finally voted for a City Manager
I watched him navigate around people that were described in this book. Decades of ingrained backwardness by some people who meant well, some didn't want change, and some with bad intentions.
Now we have strategic planning, emergency funds, good paying jobs coming to the area, etc
Proof the applying good business practices works in the government sector as well.
This book should be for anyone in a government job and also for those in private sector. Simply start with a positive & helpful attitude and provide friendly service.

Part 1 of Godless, "Rejecting God", tells the story of how I moved from devout preacher to atheist and beyond. Part 2, "Why I Am an Atheist", presents my philosophical reasons for unbelief. Part 3, "What's Wrong with Christianity", critiques the bible (its reliability as well as its morality) and the historical evidence for Jesus. Part 4, "Life Is Good!", comes back to my personal story, taking a case to the United States Supreme Court, dealing with personal trauma, and experiencing the excitement of Adventures in Atheism.

Compelling but bloviated
Revisado: 01-10-25
As a Christian, there were some very thought provoking moments in this books. However, there were other parts that, as a previous pastor, he was disingenuous. This book could have been a 1/3 as long and better presented the information.
As a father, I appreciated how much he loves and respects his wife. And I was touched by his daughter's early birth. Although I got a laugh out of his daughter taking her maternal grandfather's last name.

Discover the soul, spirit, and history of the great Native American heritage. The mysterious beginnings of Indigenous communities began in North America over 15,000 years ago. Tragically, and for far too long, the various Indigenous cultures in North America have been systematically mistreated, misrepresented, and misunderstood. This audiobook is a compelling but difficult listen. It tells the story of Native American history, which many have books left out, and the moviemakers wouldn't touch. Listening to this audiobook will be an eye opener.

A very intelligent man that has "been there, done that" with an occasional dose of humility, but overshadowed by the bitterness for anyone in his past that he feels has crossed him.
The jabs at Christians isn't necessary to get his story across, but apparently he can't help himself to mock them.
Otherwise, a very informative book that leaves you with some answers, and even more questions

The Greatest Show on Earth is a stunning counterattack on advocates of "Intelligent Design," explaining the evidence for evolution while exposing the absurdities of the creationist "argument". Dawkins sifts through rich layers of scientific evidence: from living examples of natural selection to clues in the fossil record; from natural clocks that mark the vast epochs wherein evolution ran its course to the intricacies of developing embryos; from plate tectonics to molecular genetics.
