Growing up poor in rural Georgia, Bree Cabbat’s single mother warned her that the world was a dark and scary place. Bree rejected her mother’s fearful outlook, and life has proved her right. Marrying into a family with wealth, power, and connections, Bree has all a woman could ever dream: a loving lawyer husband, two talented young teenage daughters, a new baby boy, a gorgeous home, and every opportunity in the world. Until the day Bree awakens and sees a witch peering into her bedroom window, an old gray-haired woman all dressed in black who vanishes as quickly as she appears.

It's Really Good!
Revisado: 04-02-25
Finally a book I liked! First time listening to a book from this author and I'm impressed with her lack of 'fluff' (unnecessary filler that's just meant to increase the number of words in the book). She gets to the point without having to listen to excessively long, descriptive, unnecessary sentences and paragraphs. It's a twisty storyline, which kept me listening. What I didn't like though was her narration (author narrated). Her voice, to me, sounds very childish (and too sweet), which sometimes made the main character sound immature in her thinking. Overall though a good book and I'll look for others written by her. Just wish she'd use another narrator.

STOPPED AT CHAPTER 50..... AWFUL!!!!!!!
Revisado: 03-22-25
Oh My Gosh.... where to start! The concept had so much promise, but this was one of the most BORING, TEDIOUS, GOING-NOWHERE books I've ever attempted to listen to. From the reviews, the description and the author, I was really looking forward to the book. It's hard to believe it got so many good reviews.... I wish I'd googled online and had seen all of the 1 and 2 star reviews (even from readers who normally love the author). I had to stop at chapter 50 (out of 126 chapters). It's so disjointed, so many characters to keep track of, SO MUCH long, boring, irrelevant backstory information. Definitely wasted a credit on this one.

Seemed like it was going to be a good book..... but it was actually very dragged out and became boring. Long sigh of relief when it was finished.

Historia
When reporter Ellen Gleeson gets a "Have You Seen This Child?" flyer in the mail, she almost throws it away. But something about it makes her look again, and her heart stops—the child in the photo is identical to her adopted son, Will. Her every instinct tells her to deny the similarity between the boys, because she knows her adoption was lawful. But she's a journalist and won't be able to stop thinking about the photo until she figures out the truth. And she can't shake the question: if Will rightfully belongs to someone else, should she keep him or give him up?

I won't listen to another of this author's books
Revisado: 02-15-25
I suffered through about half of this audiobook. Oh my gosh - the unnecessary descriptions (what I caller filler / fluff) that's added took up about 20% of the story. Overly describing the color of the couch, the fabric of the couch, the color of the person's suit, the sound of a piece of trash hitting the garbage can..... you get the idea. I can't stand it when author's do this, which seems to be there only to lengthen the story and adds absolutely nothing. I couldn't take another minute and gave up. The story, up to the point when I stopped was BORING and probably could have arrived at the same spot in two or three chapters. So much fluff! A total wasted credit on this one.

When Milla accepts an off-season invitation to Le Rocher, a cozy ski resort in the French Alps, she's expecting an intimate weekend of catching up with four old friends. It might have been a decade since she saw them last, but she's never forgotten the bond they forged on this very mountain during a winter spent fiercely training for an elite snowboarding competition. Yet no sooner do Milla and the others arrive for the reunion than they realize something is horribly wrong.

Too Drawn Out
Revisado: 02-10-25
Up until the last 15% of the book, I found it just went on and on..... dragging and quite boring. I almost gave up several times. It was hard to keep back stories straight with who was who and who did what. And the thing was. I really didn't care. I could leave the room with the book continuing to play and not miss anything important. The story finally picked up near the end. Oh. also. the main character Nila made some eye rolling decisions...... but were needed only to move the story along. She broke character. I wouldn't recommend and probably won't listen to this author again.

Excellent In Every Way!
Revisado: 02-02-25
I loved this book and love the author! Kept me wondering, guessing and flip-flopping as to who was causing the problems. I really like the author's way of writing.... no filler or fluff or unneeded extra words to just lengthen the story. The only issue (and it's a small one) is there are several areas in the recording where the narrator repeats the same lines and also big empty gaps between some chapters (enough to make me wonder if the recording had stopped).

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

SO-SO
Revisado: 01-08-25
Not great, not bad.... just somewhere inbetween. Seemed to drag on a bit too much.... nothing really exciting and it wasn't one of those audio books that I couldn't wait to get back to (they seem to be few and far between). I really didn't care for Lucy, the main character.... unlikeable, sarcastic, snarky, mean. I also didn't like the weird hallucinative messages from Savvy and didn't think they added to the storyline. What was good about the book was that it wasn't filled with what I call 'filler'..... extra words, sentences or paragraphs and description which seem to be in many books only to increase the length of the book. Would I recommend this one? No, probably not.

The author writes well. No fluff and filler. However, it bugs me when the main character makes some really stupid decisions, and there were a lot! The story had me guessing though as to who was the 'bad guy'.

Everyone has secrets, and Rachel Holloway is no exception. She’s worked hard to keep the past where it belongs: dead and buried. And so far, she’s been very successful. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance 12 years ago of young Molly Forster. Some secrets should never see the light of day, and, as far as Rachel is concerned, whatever happened to little Molly is one of them.

Not memorable. The story seems to drag on and on and I found my mind wandering. The writer herself writes well (no fluff and filler), however the whole premise is just ho-hum. Definitely could have done without this one.
