Not The TV Show

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-28-11

If your read this book, do not expect it to be anything like the HBO series of the same name. However, you will know way, way more about most of the characters in the HBO show than your friends. Then you can tell them all about who the Commodore was in real life and they can think you are either really smart or a know-it-all.

Refuge for People Tired of Teenage Vampires

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-28-11

There need to be many, many more books like this one. I am so happy that the Zombie genre has belatedly started gaining on the teen vampire genre. My wife watched Buffy, reads Twilight and enjoys True Blood. Vampires are complicated, emotional and there is all that sex and teenaged angst mixed in.

Zombies are simple; they like brains. They want to eat yours. There is no Edward, no Sookie no Angel, just brains. If you like apocalyptic fiction, this is a great use of an Audible Credit.

Enjoy the story and forget the politics

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-28-11

I see a lot of reviews complaining about Ringo's politics. And yes, this book has an obvious right wing point of view. If you cannot enjoy a good story without that yarn also being liberal friendly, I suggest you look to SM Stirling for your post-apocalyptic fiction fix. This is a very engaging tale, but if you can't stand a book that says Climate Change is not real, get something else.

Good Story, Great Narration

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-28-11

This is an interesting quick listen, as are all of the Ceepak novels. The narrator, Jeff Woodman is a real star! It is worth the listen as Woodman is one of those guys who could read the phonebook and keep you interested.

Should Be Three Books

Total
3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-28-11

The title of this book should be pluralized. It is really a textbook on the development of automatic weapons in general rather than a history of the AK 47/74. Only about 1/3 of the book is specifically about the AK 47. Very interesting but strays a little far afield at times. The narrator, Michael Prichard takes some getting used to, but is ok. That said, The Gun is interesting and worth the time investment.
