Historia
In the spring of 2020, Lara’s three daughters return to the family's orchard in Northern Michigan. While picking cherries, they beg their mother to tell them the story of Peter Duke, a famous actor with whom she shared both a stage and a romance years before at a theater company called Tom Lake. As Lara recalls the past, her daughters examine their own lives and relationship with their mother, and are forced to reconsider the world and everything they thought they knew.

Historia
Florida, 1884. It's a new year and Cassie Gwynne is determined to be done with the unseemly business of murder. Unfortunately, fate has other plans . . . The very next day, she happens upon the body of a newcomer to town—customs collector Chester Pence—floating beneath the boardwalk. Never one to shy away from a puzzle, Cassie can't resist getting involved in the investigation. It's no secret that Chester made a number of enemies in his short time in Fernandina: confiscating a beleaguered bride's wedding dress and a bossy businessman's cigars among many other mean acts.

The author was so careful to get the historical facts right, which I greatly appreciated. I feel like I learned so much while being thoroughly engaged and entertained. Loved all three books. These should be a movie trilogy!

Can’t keep going
Revisado: 06-10-22
Sorry to say this, but I’ve listened to the first 3 chapters and have picked up zero actual helpful or useful tips. There are broad statements like “prioritize fun” but no actual tips on the HOW. And it basically keeps recounting the previous books she has written and the characters in those books.

If you are looking for total predictability and just need brain candy, this is it. Like candy, it doesn’t fill you up in any meaningful way and at the end of the day, you’re bummed you wasted calories. This is that, but for your ears and brain. So if that’s what you want, great. I had hoped for more.

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Extremely engaging
Revisado: 11-14-20
I hesitated because I thought this would be about nature which doesn’t really interest me. But it is about solitude, survival, the human need to connect and prejudices. The story hooked me. At one point I was crying. But there were moments when the narrator would do this thing where she cuts the word short, and it was such a distraction. Overall though, very happy to have purchased this.

Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Fantastic Listen
Revisado: 03-08-20
The male narrator was easier to listen to than the female narrator who at times I felt dragged her consonants. I would speed up the pace when it was the female. But still, a great story.

Historia
At some point, every one of us embarks on a journey to find love. We meet people, date, get into and out of relationships, all with the hope of finding someone with whom we share a deep connection. This seems standard now, but it’s wildly different from what people did even just decades ago. Single people today have more romantic options than at any point in human history. With technology, our abilities to connect with and sort through these options are staggering. So why are so many people frustrated?

Not a funny book

I was expecting a comedy and this book was NOT it at all. Do not buy it if you're looking for a laugh. He tries to be serious. He should stick to comedy.
