Historia
When a teen falls while taking a selfie at the edge of a cliff, the last thing she sees before plummeting to her death is Katie Harmon, the nine-year-old girl she was babysitting, looking down at her. Investigators gather at the scene, and Katie’s mother, Sara, rushes to comfort her daughter. Yet there’s a small, secret ping of alarm in Sara’s heart that she cannot share—though rookie detective Kim Pierce senses it. For years, others have tried to unravel this secret. The Bad Seed
Revisado: 09-03-23
As I began listening to this book, I thought of the movie: The bad seed.
This was an entertaining story, for a book purchased on the daily deal, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I guessed the ending, as it was nearing, but that was okay. I still enjoyed the storytelling, and the narration.

Good second part to the series
Revisado: 02-28-23
The book continues almost exactly from where the first one left off; more of a continuation of the story than a second book with the same characters.
The narration is excellent. The author's choices in this story just left me sad. It's not that it's poorly written, I just didn't get a sense of redemption. If a third in the series is written, I'll read it though.

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Just too sad and long
Revisado: 01-26-23
I guess it's understandable that it's too sad. It's written about the saddest time in our world history. I thought 15 hours was a little long for it. I think it could have been 8 or 9 hours and it would have had the same story to it.

Historia
Sisters Kitty and Jenny haven’t spoken since a very disappointing Carvery lunch. Kitty, sixty-two, thinks Jenny is turning grey. Jenny, sixty-six, thinks Kitty needs to grow up! So when both sisters inherit a farmhouse in rural France, it gives them the perfect chance to heal the rift between them. Except the farmhouse is a wreck, the garden is terrorized by a flock of chickens, not to mention a donkey with a serious flatulence problem!

An enjoyable read for a woman in her 60s
Revisado: 11-17-22
An enjoyable read for a woman in her 60s. Excellently narrated. It was a pleasant change of pace to have a story with my peers as the main characters. And hearing the descriptions of French country living was like being transported there.

More of a romance novel
Revisado: 07-25-22
This story is more of a romance novel than a mystery novel. The story was okay, I was able to hang with it until the end, but I'm not a fan of romance novels, so my review of a romance novel maybe jaded. The author paints pretty images and and the use of scents to describe everything was interesting. It was like you could smell these things, too, and help to paint the picture and imagine the imagery.
About the narration: I agree with others that this whispering-breathy voice was annoying, although the narrator's character voices were good. The characters were well defined by her choice of voices and you didn't notice her whispering-breathy style nearly as much with the character voices. Yhe whispering-breathy style was mostly all during her narration.

Historia
When Craig Cooper and Walker Hayes met, Walker was an alcoholic atheist reeling from the backlash of a failed music career. Through their unlikely friendship, Craig’s life demonstrated the love of Christ in a way that shattered Walker’s misconceptions of Christianity, ultimately leading him down the path to a dramatic conversion. The two are now close as brothers, choosing to be next-door neighbors, and ripped out the fence between their homes as a testament to the power of the gospel to break down barriers and unite people together in Christ.

A story of friends and faith
Revisado: 06-10-22
I became a fan of Walker Hayes through his breakthrough hit "Fancy like" in 2021. I had renewed my interest in country music during the pandemic. I needed music that had a story and, most of the time, the stories are uplifting and sometimes, inspirational. While opening myself up to new and old country music, I found Walker Hayes' music. I don't think he writes a song that doesn't have a story. Listening to his music, brought me to this book. You don't have to like country music to enjoy this story. It's a story that will fill you up, no matter where you're coming from... but you might want to keep a box of tissues somewhere nearby.

I seem to always enjoy Andrew Mayne's novels. I wish they were longer. I'm always sad when they end, and look forward to the next one if it's a series.

Poor editing
Revisado: 02-14-22
This is the first audiobook I've been countered that has such poor editing. There were gaps in the dialogue and volume changes and sometimes it felt like it skipped some of the narrative. The narration was good, the story was a little confusing. Maybe intentionally so, but it had me rewinding the book and listening again to parts.

It’s 1938. The Great Depression lingers. Hitler is threatening Europe, and world-weary Americans long for wonder. Behind the wheel is the young Dust Bowl rowdy Woodrow.

Narration was troublesome
Revisado: 02-01-22
I struggled with the narration of this book. The story was wonderful, but they kept the same voice through the entire book, which bothered me because the book is told as a remembrance. The man telling the story is 100 years old and retelling a story from his past, but he uses the same gravely voice to go back to when he was 17 and 18 years old. I wish they would have changed the style of voice for when he was younger compared to when he was older. Anyway, it was my struggle with this book. The story is wonderful with a bit of history and a love of animals.
