Historia
It seems at first like a simple, tragic story. Tyler Wingo, a teenage boy, learns the awful news that his father, a soldier, was killed in action in Afghanistan. Then the extraordinary happens: Tyler receives a communication from his father...after his supposed death. Tyler hires Sean and Michelle to solve the mystery surrounding his father. But their investigation quickly leads to deeper, more troubling questions. Could Tyler's father really still be alive? What was his true mission? Could Tyler be the next target? Sean and Michelle soon realize that they've stumbled on to something bigger and more treacherous than anyone could have imagined.

On the Edge of my Seat
Revisado: 03-26-14
What made the experience of listening to King and Maxwell the most enjoyable?
Not really knowing what was going to happen even though I thought (hoped) the main characters would be okay by the book's end.
Have you listened to any of Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, Baldacci's The Innocent. Just as good.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When it appeared that both the POTUS and Maxwell could be doomed.
Any additional comments?
I really got into the story. I'm amazed at the lengths someone would go to for revenge. Or, would that be the depths they'd go to? Who cares who gets hurt if in his sick mind, he gets the revenge he seeks. Excellent. I don't doubt there are those who are this determined. Not sure how much of the events/activities are realistic but I was concerned about both King and Maxwell. Yeah, I know ... most authors don't kill off main characters but it has happened!

Historia
Private investigator and ex-FBI profiler Keye Street wants nothing more than a couple of quiet days alone with her boyfriend, Aaron - but, as usual, murder gets in the way: A.P.D. Lieutenant Aaron Rauser is called to the disturbing scene of the strangling death of a 13-year-old boy. Meanwhile, Keye must deal with not one but two of her own investigations: In the hills of Creeklaw County, there's a curious case involving chicken feed and a crematorium, and in Atlanta, Keye's emotionally fragile cousin Miki is convinced she is being stalked.

Will nnot read this author again
Revisado: 04-05-13
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I'm not sure who might enjoy it. I certainly did not. Don't like the character and certainly not her cousin
What do you think your next listen will be?
Dana Stabenow - Bad Blood
What three words best describe Ann Marie Lee’s voice?
Okay, nothing too exciting.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Not any that I know of. Could barely make it through the last hour of the story. Just wanted it finished and over with.

An interesting read
Revisado: 11-14-12
Would you consider the audio edition of The Bat to be better than the print version?
I'm not familiar with the author so I cannot compare the audio book to the print version.
If you’ve listened to books by Jo Nesbo before, how does this one compare?
This is the first book by Jo Nesbo I've listened to or read.
Which character – as performed by Sean Barrett – was your favorite?
I suppose the main character, Harry Hole. Tho' I like Andrew a lot, too. He was the more complex of the 2 characters.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Not a club.
Any additional comments?
This is my first book by Jo Nesbo with Harry Hole as the main character. I'm uncertain whether I want to try additional books by this author. I might just to see if I don't like the character or whether it might just be this book.

Historia
Max Tudor has adapted well to his post as vicar of St. Edwold's in the idyllic village of Nether Monkslip. The quiet village seems the perfect home for Max, who has fled a harrowing past as an MI5 agent. But this new-found serenity is quickly shattered when the highly vocal and unpopular president of the Women's Institute turns up dead at the Harvest Fayre. The death looks like an accident, but Max's training as a former agent kicks in, and before long he suspects foul play.

It was okay but ....
Revisado: 10-29-12
What would have made Wicked Autumn better?
A more interesting story.
What was most disappointing about G. M. Malliet’s story?
Teh entire book. I expected more from a former spy, I guess.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narration was okay but not exciting.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Not especially. I really was disappointed in the book.
Any additional comments?
I'm not sure why I choose this book. I had not read any reviews (that I can recall). Since the main character was a former spy and now a minister, I just thought it would have more to it. It's not even what I'd call a cozy English mystery; perhaps it had pretensions to that but it fell far short.
I did read (listen) to the end. Perhaps that was stubborness on my part as I will not always finish a book if I'm not enjoying it.
