DND, got to chapter 35/71 and I just can't. FMM has two characteristics, being horny and being a prude. It really sandbags the beginning arc. Smut is thrown in artificially in jarring ways. MMC is a generic shadow daddy with a injured past. She's clearly a secret fairy princess with humble origins. The writer can't be arsed to slap a more creative paint job on this yawn-fest.

Spoilers for this very confusing narrative below



Harrow has given herself brain surgery so she can forget someone she's haunted by. However she's haunted by several people. The narrator is one of these ghosts. This won't be explained until the last third of the book. Hopefully this helps as there are more satisfying twists ahead. I had to hear the ending over ten times to understand anything.

The gods did it. Ya know, the ones that are barely mentioned until the end chapter? Also who you suspect in chapter one is the murderer, for plain as day motivations. This book is so utterly deprived of creativity. Each twist is a false start, every character flat as a board and the plot drags. dnf

Bad Narrator

The book is "Cranky girl falls in love with wizard, becomes witch." An uninspired fantasy of wooden motivation and even more dry "romance" It's an ok book ruined by a very bad Narrator. English is not her first language, though she seems has a good understanding. She misunderstood/ mispronounced several words that made passages confusing. The dialog was clunky and boring. With no distinct character inflection whatsoever. There's a sex scene read with as much emotion as a woman paying her taxes. There's a battle scene of epic casualty that's read in a tone of sheer bordem. Avoid this narrator.

Does this author just hate woman?

Chasten secret Princess gets date raped and forced into marrage. Spends the rest of her life lamenting that she has no control in her life, and being horrifyingly co dependant on her rapist/husband while he boats around being a giant insecure financially abusive tool.
