Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

This started out intriguing but started to get creepy-and not in a good way. Slow moving and ending seemed like the writer just got tired of writing and wrapped it up.

This book was not what I expected. The author seems upset that no one had pity for her as she spiraled out of control, even with several offers and sometimes pleas for her to get help. She seems to want to tarnish reputations and find sympathy for her poor choices. A complete waste of my time.

Gaining closure

This book was exactly what I needed to gain some closure on the death of Tom Petty. Warren Zanes does an excellent job in letting you in on the story of Tom Petty’s life without making you feel like an intruder. For an almost life long fan, this book healed the holes in my heart after losing such a great musician and thinking it was over without getting to know the full story of the man. His writing is so beautifully written, even when it’s sometimes raw and you feel a little uncomfortable. His words are almost lyrical and you feel like you are living the story at times. I am so glad that the author decided to do the audio as I don’t feel anyone else could have told the story and given the reader such emotional attachment as you can sometimes feel that you’re in the room as an observer. Thank you Warren Zanes for letting us get to know Tom Petty and in so doing expand our respect and admiration for an already amazing musician. Seeing the hurdles he overcame without ever letting his fans down-even when he would have been better off personally-just amazing!
