Follow an epic pilgrimage of two lifelong friends, wandering minstrels from West Bengal, as they journey to Varanasi, the Kumbh Mela, and onward toward the source of the River Ganges high up in the Himalayas. This novel is set in India at the turn of the century, and this was where the original film material that seeded the story was shot.

Powerful and Enriching

The author has done an excellent job of encapturing the rich culture, vibrant colours and the soul of India. The story is full of wisdom and spiritual insights. There are some very relevant environmental issues intertwined throughout. This audiobook is exceptionally well produced. Narrator Manish Dongardive's voice enriches the listening experience. The musical elements transport you into the heart of India.

I love Paulo Coelho and his ability to connect with you as the reader. I have read many of his books. Hippie for me was not one of his best, very entertaining and an amazing story. I definitely recommend reading this one. For some reason Hippie did not consume me as much as his other books. Hippie is a bit of fun.

Good ideology, could be delivered in a more exciting way

I like the concepts and ideas put forward in this book but the author has in no way put his own flare or innovation into the topic. This book is a replicar of the self help gurus that have come before. I understand that these concepts are timeless, but my belief is that now more then ever, authors and teachers need to, take these concepts and show them in a new and interesting way. A good book if you are at entry level.
