Historia
Agrigento, Sicily, 1883. With the orsine destroyed, Cairndale lies in ruins, and Marlowe has vanished. His only hope of rescue lies in a fabled second orsine—long-hidden, thought lost—which might not even exist. But when a body is discovered in the shadow of Cairndale, a body wreathed in the corrupted dust of the drughr, Charlie and the Talents realize there is even more at stake than they'd feared. For a new drughr has arisen, ferocious, horned, seemingly able to move in their world at will—and it is not alone.

Imaginative Plot
Revisado: 01-04-25
Both the narration and plot were top notch. One of the books I question how on earth did the author think of this, as I’m reading. More complex than book one. Also a little more dark and gruesome than book one. Like, too much for me personally. This book edged into horror, enough to keep me from reading any sequel.

Wasn’t my cup of tea
Revisado: 12-20-24
The story was a little slow. The mystery was long and drawn out. I would have returned it if I could have. The story only got interesting for me at the end when the mystery got tied together.

Beautiful to listen to.
Revisado: 10-25-24
The prose and narrator both made this an enjoyable listen. The plot wasn’t gripping, but it was interesting. I enjoyed the book, but it’s not on my favorites list.

I was bored
Revisado: 10-16-24
Not enough plot, too much meandering talk going nowhere. I wished I hadn’t listened to this book.

Really Slow
Revisado: 09-26-24
The prose was beautiful, I’ll give it that. Otherwise, though there’s an attempt to wrap it together in the end, this is a collection of sad short stories. Plot is lackluster. Never got going for me.

Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Two stories in one
Revisado: 06-06-24
Almost returned it because the contemporary story seemed shallow. Got sucked in by the Russian history. That story was great. And sad. I wasn’t ready for a heartbreaking read, so be warned. Narrator was bad in contemporary voice, great in Russian. I’d pass on this book if I knew what it would be before I started it.
