Historia
In this electrifying literary memoir, Kate Hamilton deftly traces her complicated journey from loving wife to gaslit victim to furious feminist with an urgent goal: to expose how women are pressured to uphold the institutions of marriage and family, no matter the cost. In the tradition of Know My Name and The Argonauts, Hamilton braids her own story with cultural criticism to argue that we must face the misogyny lurking in the shadows of marriage in the 21st century.

Puzzling plaint, left me cold
Revisado: 01-11-25
This voice actor’s cool, impersonal narration may be a better match for academic content than for this first person memoir, which sounds oddly detached and impersonal, more a lecture than a cri de coeur.
I’m 75% through the 3rd chapter, Betrayal. Only curiosity drives me to continue.
Whatever the psychological or neurological reasons for the husband’s lack of ability or interest in connecting with the author in the specific manner she prefers, the author’s portrayal of her reaction to her own choices as martyrdom on the altar of misogyny is truly puzzling.
