Historia
Miss Marple meets Oscar Wilde in this new series of cosy mysteries set in the picturesque Cotswolds village of Bunburry. Life is looking up for amateur sleuth Alfie McAlister. He has found relatives he never knew he had, and at long last, he has replaced the avocado suite in his bathroom. But he is shocked to get a plea for help from his niece Ruby, a young law graduate in Oxford. There is no support from his fellow amateur sleuths: Liz and Marge are having problems of their own, and Constable Emma Hollis isn't answering her phone.

I've read all of these Bunburry cosy mysteries. Nathaniel Parker is on my top 5 voice actor list. His voice is very soothing & this story is one of the best in this series.

Here, fudge-making and quaffing real ale in the local pub are matched by an undercurrent of passion, jealousy, hatred and murder - laced with a welcome dose of humour. This compilation contains episodes 4 - 6.

Worth the Listen

I could listen to Nathaniel Parker read books all day. This book isn't the bet of the series, but it's still a nice listen.

Worst of the series, so far.
Revisado: 12-15-21
This book was all over the place, from gruesome, to corny, dull silliness. Laugh if you want, but the use the Lord's name in vain was so abundant it was off putting for me.
I love this series, but JD Kirk could have taken more time with the subject matter & had better editing for 'Mister Whisper.' l'm hoping this dud was a fluke. On to 'The Big Man Upstairs.'

Enjoyable
Revisado: 10-15-21
I think this was the 5th book in the series, with a new one coming out soon. Each has improved upon the previous one. These 'cozy' historical novels are quite enjoyable & you can tell the author loves language & grammar. If you are needing a quick, lighthearted listen, l recommend the 'Mercy Allcutt series.

Historia
Evan Smoak lives by his own code. Once he was known as Orphan X. Trained as an off-the-books government assassin and spoken about only in whispers, Evan Smoak was one of the most talented - and most feared - men in the Program. But he broke free and reinvented himself as The Nowhere Man, a figure shrouded in mystery, known for helping the truly desperate. If anyone is truly desperate, it’s Max Merriweather.

Excellent series
Revisado: 05-16-21
I tremendously enjoy these books. They get better as the stories progress. I definitely recommend this & the other Orphan X books, including the short stories. Other listeners have complained that the 'short stories' are a rip off & a waste of money. For $1.99 l think they are well worth the price (less than a cup of coffee or tea).

If there's one thing that Bureau of Indian Affairs Investigator Emmett Quanah Parker knows, it's that the dead don't always stay dead. When the corpse of a woman, brutally murdered and bizarrely mutilated, is discovered on Havasupai Nation land, Parker is paired with FBI Special Agent Anna Turnipseed in a hastily assembled task force of two. The two share a mixed Native American ancestry - and little else.
