This oral history takes the listener behind the curtain for all the show's highlights, from its origins as Comedy Central's underdog late-night program hosted by Craig Kilborn to Jon Stewart's long reign to Trevor Noah's succession, rising from a scrappy jester in the 24-hour political news cycle to become part of the beating heart of politics - a trusted source for not only comedy but also commentary, with a reputation for calling bullshit and an ability to effect real change in the world.

Great with Tolerable Annoyances.
Revisado: 05-11-17
If you could sum up The Daily Show (the AudioBook) in three words, what would they be?
Satisfying, Funny, Enlightening
What other book might you compare The Daily Show (the AudioBook) to and why?
Nothing can really compare to this
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
Not crazy about the performances. The emphasis was frequently off, which completely ruined the sarcastic or heartfelt remarks of the subjects. Thankfully I am familiar enough with these folks to have clearly understood how it should have been read. Just shocked that the narrators missed the mark so often. Its a shame, really.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Paying Attention to Stuff is a Frustrating Practice.
Any additional comments?
This book helped me to understand why Jon left the Daily Show. It made me sad that Jon seems disillusioned now and also made me realize how impactful the show was and how remarkable Jon's vision for the show was as well.

Historia
Tarot cards have been around since the mid-15th century in Europe. The initial Tarot cards were created to be a fun game, however the decks have evolved considerably. Since that time, the cards have developed into a method of guided meditation and a method for predicting the future. Most people are mainly accustomed to hearing the word in association with the latter.

Amazing
Revisado: 11-28-16
What did you love best about Born a Crime?
Trevor is so insightful and wise and vulnerable and funny all at the same time.
What other book might you compare Born a Crime to and why?
I don't think I could compare it. "I am Malala" comes to mind, but only because of the glimpse into living in an underprivileged country. Trevor has not been shot by Al Qaida or won a Nobel Peace Prize, though ;)
Which scene was your favorite?
When he is in jail thinking its prison and trying to act hard.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Trevor sees the expression on the boys being beaten by his Step Dad. Noah describes this moment of enlightenment well.
Any additional comments?
This was ten times better than I expected. I knew it would be funny, but I didn't know it would be so heartwarming and exciting and interesting.

Revisado: 09-19-16
What made the experience of listening to The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo the most enjoyable?
There were some very empowering revelations for women.
What other book might you compare The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo to and why?
I haven't read many autobiographies so its hard to say.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Some of the narration got a bit annoying, like she was purposefully speaking in a pleasant voice so as not to be shrill, or maybe she was just getting really tired of reading it, I'm not sure. Sounded like a phone sex voice from someone portraying a young child. It was weird and I also found it to sound a little too pretentious or something. It must be strange to narrate your own writing. I wished the voice she used was more natural. This was only in some parts, others were just fine.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No
Any additional comments?
I'm glad I read it. It wasn't breathtaking, but it was interesting and relatable. She's a good person and a naive introvert like me.

Everything You Want It To Be.
Revisado: 08-25-16
Would you listen to Too Pretty to Live again? Why?
I did imagine myself listening to it again during the first time around because there are so many complex details that give you glimpses into the psyche of the characters. I am fascinated by hearing about the mental discrepancies of Janelle and Barbara and Buddy an the only thing that may stop me from it is that its just incredibly sad and frustrating, and most true crime murder stories are.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
Examining the individual psyches of the Potter family was very interesting and the author and attorney really delved into some intriguing psychoanalyses. What an amazing job he did.
Which character – as performed by John Pruden – was your favorite?
The author the emails and texts in a very deadpan way, which was in order to convey the intelligence and ability of the authors because one of the main points of the entire story was how lack of intelligence, maturity and education contributed to the crime.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me cry not just for the murder victims and the baby but even for Jaime and Buddy to some extent for being fooled. Also it made me examine my own emotional reactions and paranoia, which happen on a much smaller scale, in order to understand the guilty parties. I related some of the characters to people I've known. Doing so was very unsettling. I was most revolted by any similarities I sensed with Janelle because she is quite evil!
Any additional comments?
This was so much more complex and compelling than I had imagined it could be. And expertly handled by the author both in handling the case and in describing everything for the book. He made me want to camp out with all of the files for a month and just pour over the details so as to keep looking for little clues into the minds of monsters.

Palo Alto is the debut of a surprising and powerful new literary voice. Written with an immediate sense of place - claustrophobic and ominous - James Franco's collection traces the lives of an extended group of teenagers as they experiment with vices of all kinds, struggle with their families and one another, and succumb to self-destructive, often heartless nihilism.

Hit Home
Revisado: 08-15-16
Would you listen to Palo Alto again? Why?
Maybe. It was compelling to me because I grew up in the SF Bay Area it brought me back to how difficult and confusing it was at that age. It is a very raw look at like in suburbia where parents are too busy, too weak or too much in denial to have an in-depth relationship with their children and how lost and hopeless kids can become with no direction and then thrown in the shark tank that is American High School.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The characters were confusing and depressed for the most part. I feel sorry for all of them and to some extent feel sorry for who I was at that age. So my favorite character is me...
Which scene was your favorite?
The realization that the meek don't inherit the earth.
Who was the most memorable character of Palo Alto and why?
April because of the way she was just persuaded into the molestation of her coach. That sort of thing is so much more common than anyone can imagine. Its horrifying.
Any additional comments?
I am at the same time depressed and refreshed for having been reminded of those years and then having an opportunity to share those things in the company of others
through his book. Franco wanted to connect an older generation with a newer one and he did it perfectly. He crossed a couple of decades to reveal the pain we share of being young, entitled, and confused by the world we live in where apathy rules.

Revisado: 05-11-16
What made the experience of listening to Violated: A shocking and harrowing survival story from the notorious Rotherham abuse scandal the most enjoyable?
Its hard to call it enjoyable based on the subject, but it was well written and narrated perfectly.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
The honesty of the author allows the reader to have a full understanding of how the men were able to prey on and brainwash so many children.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the author was so brave to publicly speak out and berate the authorities who failed in their job and allowed this to continue for so many years.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
When communities fail to protect their children
Any additional comments?
So difficult to read. I shed a lot of tears. I am just glad that something it finally being done, even though this sort of thing still exists.
