A fne whodunnit
Revisado: 10-19-21
Came for the KC Wayland and stayed for the well acted hotel whodunnit story. More than meets the eye with classic elements of the genre while offering interesting characters and twists.

Pass, even if free
Revisado: 05-13-20
This is the worst thing I have ever listened to. There’s a reference to something pop culture literally, literally, every third sentence. The dialogue is bad and cluttered. The characters have no depth beyond being absolute parody, which does not work at all because absolutely none of the humor lands. It’s an awful mix of edgelord nonsense and *holds up spork* random attempts at humor. And his own references to his work and how it “offends” people is just his underlying awareness of how awful his content is.

It's one of the galaxy's most dangerous secrets: a mysterious transmitter with unknown power and a reward for its discovery that most could only dream of claiming. But those who fly the Millennium Falcon throughout its infamous history aren't your average scoundrels. Not once, but twice, the crew of the Falcon tries to claim the elusive prize - first, Lando Calrissian and the droid L3-37 at the dawn of an ambitious career, and later, a young and hungry Han Solo with the help of his copilot, Chewbacca.

I had no idea what to expect here and I loved every moment. The narrators absolutely nail the characters as well.

Every one of these is a joy. They're clever, fun, and well cast. Listening to this on audio is the ultimate way to enjoy them. I had a smile through the entire listen. I am grateful to have heard some of these stories live as well. (AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY)

In the war for control of the galaxy between the armies of the dark side and the Republic, former Jedi Master turned ruthless Sith Lord Count Dooku has grown ever more brutal in his tactics. Despite the powers of the Jedi and the military prowess of their clone army, the sheer number of fatalities is taking a terrible toll. This is definitely more what I was hoping for from the new canon. Golden does a fantastic job of making me care about Asajj. Although some of the plot felt rushed or glossed over, I certainly enjoyed this. I listened to the audiobook, and Marc Thompson does an incredible job.

An instant Star Wars classic.
Revisado: 10-19-15
This is the book that I wanted to see in the new Star Wars canon. I looked forward to this one for a long time and it delivered.
Tarkin brings to deeper light a character full of dark and twisted ambition. It shows an inside look to the horrible mind of one of the Empire's most wicked leaders. And the author does such a good job of making him respectable, intelligent, and grand(moff) that you almost forget what a monster Tarkin was. This is a must read for the new canon.
Euan Morton does a good job of not just capturing Tarkin but EVERY character that shows up.
Name spoiler: Armand Isard is mentioned. Old canon pushing through!

Join the Army and See the Universe. That is the motto of The Third Space War, also known as The First Interstellar War, but most commonly as The Bug War. In one of Robert Heinlein's most controversial best sellers, a recruit of the future goes through the toughest boot camp in the universe - and into battle with the Terrain Mobile Infantry against mankind's most alarming enemy.

Not sure what I expected, or what I got.
Revisado: 10-19-15
So I don't know if I liked this book or not, but I acknowledge it's quality and the conversation it provides. I get that it's not an action sci fi, more of a sociological book, but I think it failed in that regard and that's why I knocked it down a few stars. It feels like JUST the radio speech Galt gives in Atlas Shrugged without any of the quality narrative surrounding the speech. It spent more time preaching than selling me on the society under these rules.
The memoir of a soldier appeal is truly what kept me reading. I know it's nit picking but after his section about "spanking children solving the world's problems speech" I was a bit less interested in what Heinlein had to say. This is worth a read, but keep your mind active and ready to think.

Adventures of Darth and Darth, nothing more.
Revisado: 10-19-15
This book delivered what I wanted. It had an insight into Vader's mind, his relationship with the Emperor, and some action for early rebel movements. It's fun and enjoyable, but not overly deep or dramatic as far as the big picture of star wars goes. It's definitely worth a read for fans with the new canon. I listened to this on audible, and the narration by Jonathan Davis is top notch.

Hot on the heels of the New York Times best seller William Shakespeare's Star Wars comes the next two installments of the original trilogy: William Shakespeare's The Empire Striketh Back and William Shakespeare's The Jedi Doth Return. Return to the star-crossed galaxy far, far away as the brooding young hero, a power-mad emperor, and their jesting droids match wits, struggle for power, and soliloquize in elegant and impeccable iambic pentameter. Even better this time.
Revisado: 10-19-15
This one was even more brilliant than the last. The wampa, AT-ATs, and Ugnaughts had me in tears of laughter. The climax of the film is done well and is still captivating in this format. If you made it through the first one and enjoyed the experience this one won't disappoint. Again, you MUST listen to the audiobook. It's wizard.
